SECRET PLACE

A secret place is your point of privacy with God. It's your place of regular sessions where you express and satisfy your spiritual hunger, pour out your heart to God, and engage in other spiritual activities, such as purging, thorough heart examination, heartfelt prayer, and private study of the Bible. It is a place where a fresh desire for God is ignited in an individual's life. Every born again Christian is expected to nurture a secret place. It is not an optional idea; its a requisite moral commitment.

Reference: Psalm 91:1 New King James Version (NKJV) 'He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.'

Anything of value or glorious about your life is never revealed to you until you take the secret place seriously. It is your pursuit of God in the secret place that unveils the dimensions of your glorious destiny to you as an individual. I specifically mentioned 'individual' because God's commitment is not first to us as group of people but He engages us on individual level in the secret, considering our uniqueness and specific purpose.

To take the secret place seriously is to form the habit of having an appointment with God in a secluded atmosphere, so as to share and discuss the things pertaining the important secrets of your life in details. In the secret place, its only you and God that meet there. You're physically present while God is the unseen party. The longer you stay, the deeper the interaction, until you experience a rewarding romance with divinity.

Secret place is a place of zero distraction and 100% commitment to God and His plan for your life. It's that position that boosts your spiritual understanding and empowerment. The Psalmist, being familiar with the secret place, informed us of the benefit in our referenced Scripture, which is: If your habit is to dwell in the secret place, the reward is that you'll abide under the shadow of the Almighty. To 'abide' is to accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation). That means, you are conditioned to act in accordance with God's will, vision and plan for your life.

When you dwell in the secret place, you're sure to abide under His very shadow! And shadow is defined as a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface. Abiding under the shadow of the Almighty is beyond walking in safety. It's practically walking in divine direction. His shadow causes you to walk in the right path of life because you look at it and take the right steps, in the direction the shadow moves. When you visit the secret place, His shadow becomes clearer, such that you won't miss direction.

God knows you specifically, by His purpose and plan for your life not by church, group and gathering you belong to. That's why the secret place is very paramount! The church is His wider commitment, while you are His private engagement. Unfortunately, many Christians were introduced to faith and they got committed in church, which is good, but they were never introduced to active personal intimacy with the Spirit of God because they don't nurture the secret place. You should discover your spiritual office in the secret place while you're dispatched to the body of Christ from there.

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 25:2; Psalm 27:4; Jeremiah 23:24; Matthew 6:6; Mark 1:35.

Exuberant Declaration: Heavenly Father, thank you for my secret place of engagements with you, which grants me intimacy with your Spirit. It is my place of strength and it increases my sense of dependency on you. I'm forever grateful for the advantages it affords me, such as divine wisdom and insight, discipline and understanding. As I discern your plans for my life and destiny in the secret place, I'm empowered to gain divine direction and walk successfully in the path of my glorious destiny in Jesus' Name, Amen!
