YOU ARE GOD'S KINGDOM BEARER
SATURDAY 03 SEPTEMBER 2022
As new creatures, we belong to the kingdom of God. This kingdom is a spiritual kingdom. It is the reign of God in our hearts. So we must bear the atmosphere of this kingdom, as long as we are here on earth. It is our spiritual reality and it is set up in our hearts by God's grace and by our faith in Christ Jesus. In other words, its reign and dominion are set up within us, to bring every contrary thought, spirit and stronghold into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Reference: Luke 17:21 New King James Version (NKJV) "For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."
In the above verse, Jesus was directing His words of reply to the Pharisees, who asked Him when the kingdom of God would come. He replied, 'The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ''Here it is,'' or ''there it is'', for indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.' That means, its not a geographical location, but a spiritual kingdom at work in the life of a born again Christian.
When you belong to any kingdom and observe their values, tradition and belief, its easy and natural to comply with the lifestyle of that kingdom. This is how you can bear the verities or principles of a kingdom. For instance, if a German travels to Africa, an African will easily identify that he is not an African, even though he is in Africa. This is because the German will always be naturally discerned by the way he behaves and displays his culture. His looks and language will single him out, showing that he's foreign and not an African. His language, mental and physical attributes will differentiate him from the Africans.
Same way, if you are born again, understand that you carry a different kingdom in you, even though you are in the world. No wonder the Bible says, you are in the world, but not of the world (see John 17:15-16). Here the 'world' refers to a world system ruled by the god of this world. So Jesus declares that though we are in the world, we are no longer of the world- we are not supposed to be ruled by sin or natural senses. This is because we're no longer bound by the limiting and contrary principles of the world, but rather we are God's kingdom bearers in the world. We function by a different mentality working on the inside, due to our adherence to the set of righteous principles and ordinances of our Kingdom from above.
So you can choose not to live according to the world's contrary views by embracing and activating the Kingdom principles and values. This attitude will keep you far from the corrupting influences of this world and distinguish you from the worldly lifestyles and realities. How possible? Its possible by renewing your mind with God's Word consistently (see Romans 12:2 NIV). For instance, in the world, man is naturally inclined to be conscious of sin and accept negative and limiting influences, but Jesus wasn't and isn't. While He was in this world, even in the midst of shortage, He had no sense of lack, (remember the miracle of the five loaves and two fish in Matthew 14:13-21). He was full of compassion and always conscious of making notable impact, establishing divine realities and abundance, as well as promoting the Kingdom mentality, thereby touching and changing people's lives permanently. Same way, we are being raised in this kingdom by the Word, to think, function and act differently.
God doesn't want you to be conscious of the limitations in your natural circumstances. For instance, He doesn't want you to limit yourself by living according to how much you earn or how much you have in the bank because He is your sufficiency and He is bigger than all the economies of this world put together. Now, I don't mean living beyond your means or spending foolishly. I mean that God wants you to be conscious of the abundance of resources in His kingdom, and walk by faith, not by sight. So if you want to experience abundance in your life, be conscious first, of the presence of abundance inside of you. That means, even in the midst of negativity, challenges and lack, you can call forth God's resources from within because Christ in you is the hope of glorious and abundant life. Then, what is inside you will become a reality on the outside. And you'll walk in it supernaturally, as long as you maintain your confession and live according to the Word.
Therefore never ask, "where is that kingdom?", like the Pharisees, because it is not some physical place. Now that you've been enlightened to know who you are, and the Kingdom you represent because you have received Christ Jesus as your Lord, begin to function correspondingly - for indeed, that kingdom has come alive in you! Simply put, the kingdom of God is working hugely within you, and God will continually manifest Himself and His glory in your life and environment, as you grow in the knowledge of the Word and function steadily with and by the awareness of today's truth.
