WALKING AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

MONDAY 04 APRIL 2022

Light can be natural, man-made or supernatural. But all of them are vital in life because no matter the source, we utilize them every single day. Today we are focusing on the supernatural light in Christ because those who belong to Christ are light in the Lord. By walking as children of light, apostle Paul means that we have been born into the Kingdom of light and this very light is supernatural, due to the origin.

Reference: Ephesians 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV) "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light."

Walking as children of light is our honourable office because by doing so, God makes manifest to us, the counsels of His heart. The hidden things of God cannot be disclosed to those who walk in darkness. But thank God for Christ Jesus. He said, "I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness" (John 12:46 ESV). By the redemption in Christ and by receiving Him as Lord, man is delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred into the Kingdom of light (NKJV). And he becomes a child of light as he continues to live the life of the Spirit.

Walking as children of light can also mean, functioning from a vantage point or position, which affords a great understanding of glorious possibilities. It equally positions us not to be blind to divine possessions, ideas and opportunities. Ephesians 1:18 (AMPC) reads, "By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones)." In Christ, God illuminates the crypts of our inward being, which naturally fills our heart with divine light, enabling or empowering us to be aware of our glorious inheritance and to access all the rich possibilities of our divine Kingdom.

Beloved, Paul reminds us saying, "For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light." Why must we walk as children of light in this present world? Firstly, this is because its not enough to be a light, we must function accordingly. Secondly, it's because the world is full of darkness. Isaiah 60:2 reads, "See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you" (NIV). Every good light is a type of radiant energy anyone is able to visually perceive with their eyes. In other words, light is the power that all men can see! No wonder Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (NKJV). Therefore, we are expected to shine it brightly by translating it to good works, so the world can see through it and also embrace the source.

Our knowledge of the Word and how often we practise it will determine the quality of light we emit - plus its effectiveness. The more we feed on the Word and express it in our actions, the more light we emit, and the more Satan and his demons can't stand our light. So this particular light in us dispels and drives out all manner of darkness. No devil or works of darkness can survive the light of God in us, especially when displayed through us. Therefore, as children of the light, if we continue to walk by faith - by following and acting on the truths of God's Word, we constantly move in the right direction, fulfilling God's will for our lives. Shalom!

Exuberant Declaration: I am a child of light and I walk as a child of light because I'm born again. I don't belong to the night nor to darkness. I have the gift of righteousness; I live a holy life, and my pure conversations are witnessed and known everywhere, with the proper motive of influencing and transforming others with the glorious gospel that brings them to the knowledge of Christ. Hallelujah!
