MIND ORIENTATION - PART 1

TUESDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2024

I am introducing a new topic, namely, mind orientation, which implies "the renewing of the mind." It is the installation of new principles of light and life in any man who has received Christ as Lord and Saviour - with grace and truth quickening their souls as they recover from being dead in trespasses and sins which weakened the minds' structure because they were formerly functioning in accordance with the pattern of this world. So the renewing of the mind of a born again Christian denotes a forming of Christ in their souls, so as to condition them to fully partake of the divine nature. More below!

Reference: Romans 12:2 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

The versified statement informs us that there is a world which we live in, because we have a body (earthen vessel), that houses our spirit and soul, but we are not of this world and we should not conform to its views or ways of doing things, because we have been born again by incorruptible seed, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

To that effect, 2 Peter 1:23 reads, "For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God" (NLT). And this living Word, which is of God's sovereign will and pleasure, is the fountain of spiritual or divine life. For this reason, there is a process of developing the mind of Christ, as we keep exercising our spirit being in Christ. This process entails instilling in your mind, divine realities and perspectives that lead to godly attitude or habits of righteousness - by persistent enlightenment and imbibed cognizance sourced from the ministry of the Word.

What is God's plan for doing this? The Lord wants to always put His voice in your mind, so as to govern your will, including your perception, thought pattern, imagination, motivation, emotion, attention and consciousness. In that respect, the Word must be drilled into your mind with its accurate and in-depth comprehension.

So by the instrumentality of truth, the voice of God secures its full and active influence on your soul, and the effect it produces in your minds is usually transformative, which implies that "you are transformed by the renewing of your mind." Got it? Over time, the effect of His will that positions you to keep experiencing the brightness of His glory, will furnish you with the ability to continually become more like God.

In the New American Standard Bible, James 1:18 reads, "In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures." This denotes that we have been reborn - not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God (John 1:13 NLT). So this birth is God's act, and not man's, meaning that it has got nothing to do with our earthly parents.

However, to function on earth accordingly, your mind must keep coming in contact with the gospel truth, and be mixed with milk of the Word in order to undergo an enduring transfiguration. To that effect, Petrine epistolary dictates reads, "Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment" (1 Peter 2:2 NLT).

Aside from your spirit, which is the real you, your mind is your most valuable asset that can always help you to promote a godly attitude in life, and by enhancing your spiritual outlook in that regard, you'll be conditioned to move forward ever in a path of glorious fulfilment. For this reason, I have divided our versified reference into three segments below, so as to offer you knowledgeable illuminary enlightenment based on this topic. They are as follows:

1. And do not be conformed to this world

2. But be transformed by the renewing of your mind

3. So that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

By engaging the richness and intensity of my expository structure - in view of this topic, you will surely reflect the light that will continually yield a transforming effect in your mind and physical well-being. Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 4:23; 2 Corinthians 10:5; Philippians 4:8; 1 Peter 2:9.

Exuberant Declaration:

By the instrumentality of truth, my mind is constantly renewed to function in Christ's victory as I stand up to everyday life and its situational notice - with a winning mentality, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
