Reference: Colossians 2:6-7 New International Version (NIV)
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
I am handling the expository knowledge of the next versified segmentary statement in today's article, and that is:
"strengthened in the faith as you were taught"
The keyword here is "Strength" which is God-centered energy that flows from inward faith that is getting built up.
The person who instigates our "strengthening in the faith" is the last Adam - by His empowering effects, because He is our great faith-building architect or constructor. The Hebraic awakening inspiration rendered it in this manner: He is the author and finisher of our faith. To instantiate this phenomenal verity, Hebrews 12:2 reads -
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith" (NKJV).
He imparts, strengthens, reinforces, intensifies, corroborates, amplifies, reinvigors, and reenforces our faith with divine power - by the awakening enablement of His divine nature (See Ephesians 3:16 NKJV).Why does He strengthen our faith? The strengthening bestowal or vigorous impartation is necessary for us to keep fulfilling God's plan and purpose on earth, and it equally instills in us, a living hope that encourages steadfastness under trial.
Now watch this: His process of transferring, sharing and granting this "strengthening" is by the teaching ministry of the Word. Hence, you can notice that in our versified reference, the very "strengthening in the faith" is in accordance with "as you were taught." So the strengthening of faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ (Romans 10:17 NLT).
Moreover, we must bear in mind that we are taught and raised in the faith by the Word of grace and truth, not by observing the law of Moses. Why? Last Adam has come to dwell in our hearts by the God-kind of faith. We see this phenomenal verity stated in Ephesians 3:17 which reads, "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love" (ESV). In accordance with this versified inference, you can become fully cognizant that we are being groomed, rooted and grounded in His unconditional love, not in accordance with His wrath, as it were in Moses' day.
Beloved, we are majorly strengthened in the faith as we are being taught, and this strengthening ensures that we continue well in the faith, by remaining stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that we steadily hear and receive, so that all our spiritual endeavours will remain highly beneficial. Stay tuned for part 9. Shalom!
