'TAKE POSSESSION' IS THE ACTION REQUIRED OF YOU

There is an action required of you, when it comes to receiving anything God has made available for you in His Word. That action is 'take possession'. But before we can take possession of what is available in the Word, we must understand the difference between these two words, 'promise' and 'inheritance', especially when it has to do with a word from God.

Reference: Joshua 1:11 Amplified Bible (AMP) '...go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess [as an inheritance].'
When God tells you He has given you something, it means your name is written on it and its your inheritance. However you have to take action to receive it, just like we see in the above Scripture. Sometimes we see a company give out some gifts. If you're qualified for that gift, they would usually inform you and tell you the necessary steps to take to possess it. Sometimes they give you an access code. Now understand that the gift is no longer a promise because your name is on it, but if you don't take the steps to claim it, it will not be in your possession.
Let's identify one notable instance in the Bible, when a promise became an inheritance. Exodus 19:5-6 (NIV) says, 'Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' This is a promise God made to His people. To us, its no longer a promise. We are now God's chosen generation because Christ obeyed and we are in Him. So instead of 'if you obey me fully, you'll be my people', in Christ Jesus, we are God's people because Christ has obeyed fully on our behalf.' That means, all the requirements of the law were satisfied under Christ.
To make this clearer, in 1 Peter 2:6-9 (NKJV), the Bible says, 'Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion, A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame." Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone," and "A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense." They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.'
Notice that its no longer a promise but an inheritance. You are a chosen generation. You are not going to be a chosen generation. This is your inheritance, not a promise because you are now in Christ, who has already fulfilled the requirement for you and you believe in Him. When it comes to God's promises in His Word, He already fulfilled all of them in Christ Jesus. God is not owing you anything or making new promises to you. Everything He promised you in His Word was delivered to you in one package - Christ Jesus. Jesus is the answer. So in Christ Jesus, the action required of you is - to possess the results of the promises God has fulfilled.
Beloved, there's no more waiting for God to fulfil His promises in your life, instead God is waiting for you to take action and possess what has been given to you. Claim your inheritance based on the finished work of Christ. Don't say, 'Father, I'm waiting on your promises, rather search and locate the Scriptures connected to all you need, speak them forth and exercise your faith to possess them, by thanking God for their fulfilment and reality your life. No matter the need, as long as its consistent with God's will, the provision is available in God's Word.
In 2 Corinthians 1:20, the NIV translation says, 'For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ.' And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.' The NLT reads, 'For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" And through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for his glory.' Therefore take action and possession your inheritance in Christ today and always.
