SOLOMONIC WISDOM - PART 2

THURSDAY 29 MAY 2025

I'm still dealing with the introductory aspect of the topic, Solomonic wisdom. King Solomon was the most prominent recipient or accepter, so far as wisdom goes deep, in the land of Israel; a King who was not driven by humanly-fashioned wisdom but by a transcendent condition of divine bestowal that produced dynamic and sound discernment, plus wise perspicacity and mindful aptitude for unusual comprehension. More below!

Reference:  1st Kings 4:29-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)

"Now God gave Solomon [exceptional] wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand of the seashore. Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt."

In 1st Kings Chapter 3, and verses 4-15, the Bible revealed that King Solomon asked God for wisdom. By embracing what his world considered as rare, peculiar or "out of the common", King Solomon demonstrated his unwavering trust in God's superior wisdom, which implies that there is no argument that true wisdom and understanding come from God.

King Solomon went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, which was the most important high place, and there, he offered a thousand burnt offerings on the altar. At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you." Solomon answered, "You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day."

Solomon continued..."Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?"

The Lord God was pleased that Solomon had asked for for discernment in administering justice. For that reason, He said to King Solomon, "I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be." Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for - both wealth and honour - so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life." Then Solomon awoke -and he realized it had been a dream.

Then in the next chapter, the passage specifically numbered as 1 Kings 4:29-31 informed that the Scripture recorded:

"Now God gave Solomon [exceptional] wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand of the seashore. Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all [other] men, [wiser] than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. His fame was known in all the surrounding nations" (AMP).

Beloved, King Solomon was wiser than every other human on earth until Christ emerged. He was the third King of Israel, meaning that the glory of the wisest man was situated in the nation of Israel. Why? God, our Supreme Deity, was there. He was and is still the living God of Israel! He certainly uttered, "Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power and strength are mine" (Proverbs 8:14 AMP). Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!

Exuberant Declaration:

I'm hugely amazed at the depth of the riches of both the wisdom and knowledge of God, which produces a maximum conviction in my heart - that the perfections of His nature are a perplexing infinitude. Hallelujah!
