SIN SPEAKS

THURSDAY 24 FEBRUARY 2022

Sin has a voice. This is why it speaks. If you are not born again, sin can overpower you because by yielding fully to it, you allow its voice to become higher. In time, by indulging in sin, its effect will take control over your life, and the voice will get deeper and deeper.

Reference: Psalm 36:1 Good News Translation (GNT) "Sin speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts; they reject God and do not have reverence for him."

Sin is an enemy of God. When a man is under the reign and the control of sin, they reject God and remain in a state of enmity with God. This sin originated from the first man, Adam. The Adamic nature is a result of the curse of the fall of Adam which introduced sin and spread its rule, effect and dominance from generation to generation in the history of mankind. The voice of sin is the voice of defeat, reproach, disgrace, shame, affliction and eternal damnation, which are consequences flowing out of fallen human nature and its desires.

When you see people who harbour wicked minds and whose hearts are full of evil such that they no longer do what is wise and good, they've been overpowered by the voice of sin. They can easily make evil plans as they lie in bed; nothing they think of is good, and so they find it difficult to reject anything evil. They entertain and grant expression to negative thoughts sponsored by the voice of sin which is irresistible to them. No wonder the Bible says, "For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will" (Romans 8:7 NLT), which means that the sinful nature will never please God both in time and eternity.

Sin defines a natural man and his nature. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (KJV). This is because the sinful nature dominates him or her and so their strongest operation is carnal. Therefore, they are far from associating with, or being enlightened and guided by the Spirit of God.

The only permanent solution to the voice and control of sin is the glorious gospel. Apostle Paul says, "For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile" (Romans 1:16 NLT). The death and resurrection of Christ gave mankind the greatest victory over sin and its nature. Through the atoning efficacy of Christ's death on the cross, man's justification was accomplished. However, without repenting and receiving Christ as Lord, man has no guarantee that their sins have really been remitted.

Maybe as an unbeliever, you have cried out for power to overcome sin and its effects. But days, months and years later, the voice of sin is still active and quite effective, which is to show that sin cannot be cast out from your life except by receiving the grace of God which is in Christ. Perhaps you have finally reached the end of your rope sinning as the "Wretched" lost soul and you've cried out, "Who will set me free from the dominion of sin?" As an unbeliever, when you admit your failure to defeat or overcome the voice and power of sin by your human intellect or wisdom, then you must quickly surrender your life to God.

Hear me, the glorious gospel is not the power of man, but the power of God unto salvation which is a powerful agency put forth by God through Christ to save mankind from sin. Therefore if you still reject God and do not have reverence for Him, do not continue in such life, instead receive your gift of salvation and come to the knowledge of Christ hastily. To receive Christ as Lord, please kindly declare the prayer of salvation below. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:12-15; 1 John 3:4-6.

Guided Prayer: I acknowledge today that God demonstrated His unconditional love for me in this: While living without Christ, He sent Him ahead of time to die for me. Therefore I renounce the nature of sin and I accept Jesus as my Saviour. I believe and confess with all my heart that Jesus is the Son of the true living God, who died for me and was raised from the dead on the third day by God. I believe that Jesus is risen and He's alive forever. I accept Him into my heart and I declare His Lordship over my life forever. I'm now born again as a new creation. I have eternal life: my present-moment reality. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and taking full charge of my life, as my Lord. GLORY TO GOD!
