SEAL OF GOD'S APPROVAL - PART 3
THURSDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2022
God set the seal of approval on Christ. For what reason? To distribute eternal life (John 10:28 NIV). Nobody else in heaven and on earth has the right to do so. Eternal life is a life of ages; it has no end. Maybe you should take some time and ponder this truth. Eternal life is a continuous life, void of pain, disease, hardship, plight, crises, chaos, mess, worries, disappointment, danger, disfavour and negativity. Have you seen anyone in this world who has never experienced at least one of these since they were born? Now imagine what eternal life will look like as we spend eternity with God at the end of time. Indeed, our hearts should honour the Lord, and rejoice in Him, whenever we have quite meditations on eternal life.
Reference: John 6:27 New Living Translation (NLT) "But don't be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval."
When you read this kind of Scripture and you grasp the revelation, "For God the Father has given Christ the seal of his approval", how do you actually handle such magnitude of insight? For me, what comes to mind is that I'm highly favoured to come to the knowledge of this truth. So, I become grateful to God the Father, who has enlightened my mind by His Holy Spirit, to relate with the revelation that I may embrace the Person of Christ revealed to us in the Gospel, to the obtaining of everlasting life, and then, participate in the setting forth of God's eternal glory.
Eternal life is not a life which is unreal on earth or which we are going to have in the distant future, after time realm. It is available in Christ now. If you are born again, it means that Christ lives in you now, which also implies that you have the influence of eternal life within you and can activate it. Seeking eternal life simply means: Practising the influence as your lifestyle and living above the ordinary human life. 1 John 5:11-13 reads, "And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life" (NLT). Here in these verses, John the Evangelist made it so clear that eternal life is in Christ Jesus; hence if you have received Christ as Saviour and Lord, you have eternal life.
Beloved, eternal life is so limitless and powerful that it comes with the guarantee that physical death cannot deprive anyone of it. It transcends the earthly life as well as the earth realm. By my personal consciousness, I have rigorously examined that eternal life comes as an actual union of the human spirit and the Divine. It takes effect the very same time we receive Christ as Lord. No wonder the Bible says, "But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him" (1 Corinthians 6:17 NLT). From that moment of salvation, you begin to engage an influence from above so penetrating and so powerful that you would definitely know and realise you have a superior life beyond doubt, and it is because of the figure of union with Christ alone, that you're experiencing the influence.
Wonderfully, God did not only give Christ the seal of His approval to distribute eternal life, He also sealed us in Christ. The Bible says, "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee" (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NKJV). God identified us as His own by setting His seal of ownership on us, and putting His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Stay tuned for part 4. Shalom!
