Updated: Jun 19

TUESDAY 17 JUNE 2025

This topic is recognizable as unique functional abilities of the saints, because we are called to function accordingly in the Lord. Therefore, my expository insight into the topic's "knowledgebase" structure - will inspire a profound depth of "thoughtful good and habitual skills" within your mental faculty that will last a lifetime, as well as instill a keen capacity to acknowledge and appreciate the importance, beauty and wonders of Christ's ability and nature at work in you. Reference: 1st Samuel 16:18 New King James Version (NKJV)

"Then one of the servants answered and said, "Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the LORD is with him."

On the one hand, in accordance with the above versified statement, one of King Saul's servants suggested David as a skilled harp player. Here is the suggested description:

1. Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite (Place of Nativity).

2. Who is skillful in playing, (Proficiency in Harp Playing).

3. A mighty man of valor, a man of war (Gallant & Valorous Mortal).

4. Prudent in speech, (Prudential Speechification).

5. And a handsome person (Youthful Comeliness).

6. And the LORD is with him (Divine Presence, expressive of Davidic Personage).

I will expound the topic in line with the above stated versified categorization, or in the particular order of mention which they follow each other. Moreover, the science behind the King's decision to hire a youthful David can be located in Proverbs 22:29 which reads, "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank" (NIVUK).

On the other hand, Prudential Proficiency by Christology is denotative of a godly "chain rule" that manifests the combination of two differentiable functions, namely Prudence and Proficiency. Then the phraseology, "By Christology" implies the order in which a born again Christian displays both virtues as a supposed indication of godly character and mental abilities in any course of actionable strategies.

Its like identifying the agent by which you perform any goodly skills or actions, or indicating the means of achieving any good works, which is Christ. Therefore the intimation of the term, "Christology" reveals that we are not called in the order of Davidic "perfected" abilities but in the order of Christ's nature, virtues and perfections.

In a nutshell, Christ's nature, finished works and His person - have been the foremost part of the dispensation or freedom brought to us by divine grace, and His teachings reflect the creative and transformative power of God's Word in the lives of born again Christians.

Hence, in a lifestyle where Christ-like character is live-streaming, or is fully active, prudence is an ever-increasing virtue that provides guidance on the appropriate course of action to be taken in any given situation, while proficiency is evidenced by demonstrating a high degree of skill or expertise in any field of functionality, on account of God's grace and glory. Stay tuned for part 3.

Scripture Reading - Exodus 35:10; Proverbs 1:1-7; Proverbs 8:12; Galatians 6:14.
