PHONOLOGICAL AND TRANSFORMATIONAL MYSTERY - PART 1

Updated: Sep 18

WEDNESDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2025

I'm introducing a new topic that focuses on the underlying language of the heavenly system, which is far beyond or superior to human understanding, articulation, influence and perception. Its a coded language that strengthens your belief system in Christ and reinforces the understanding that you are truly born of God. It is also what makes our walk with God unique in operation. This topic is known as Phonological and Transformational mystery. More below!

Reference: 1st Corinthians 14:2 New Living Translation (NLT)

"For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious."

The first segment of our referenced Scripture reads, "For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you."

In other words, by exercising the passion and ability to speak in tongues, you'll be caught up to a realm in the Spirit with God where inexpressible things are well uttered by you and heard by God, things that no natural man is permitted to comprehend. By the Spirit, you utter secret truths and hidden realities, not obvious to the understanding, for no one understands the one that speaks in tongues. Assuredly, uttering mysteries by the Spirit, means that it is the Holy Spirit that grants the utterance.

In Acts of the Apostles chapter 2, it was recorded that on the day of Pentecost, the disciples of Jesus gathered together in one place, numbering one hundred and twenty, and a sound like a mighty rushing wind filled the place, and then what followed next was the tongues of fire which landed on each of them, propelling them to express themselves in languages other than Galilean, and surprisingly understood by foreign language speakers. To instantiate this Biblical verity, Acts 2:1-17 reads:

When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and hit filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. And they were amazed and astonished, saying, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians - we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God." And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" But others mocking said, "They are filled with new wine."

But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit to all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams" (ESV).

After studying and assimilating the above versified passage, we can arrive at the conclusion that speaking in tongues is the very spiritual evidence that one has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. So the baptism of the Holy Spirit was not the blessing of the disciples' justification and sanctification but rather a work of grace that marks the infilling influence of the Holy Spirit accompanied by the experience of unusual aptitude of tongues' speaking.

However, relating to the verses which stated that devout men from every nation under heaven dwelling in Jerusalem came together on account of hearing the tongues, and they were bewildered, because each one of them was hearing the disciples speak in his own language or dialect, this implies that they were amazed and astonished that those who spoke Galileans were speaking of the mighty works of God in their own native language (Acts 2:5-12 NKJV).

This is where phonological awakening and approach come in, which in the context of this topic, is the system of uttering or expressing contrastive relationships among the speech sounds that constitute the fundamental components of a language or mysterious utterances resulting in divinely-inspired communicative, impactive and transformational outcomes.

Heedfully, the tongues the disciples specifically spoke on the day of Pentecost identically related to the sounds in other people's foreign language or in many native languages of inhabitants indigenous to Jerusalem. And in the successive parts of this topic, I'll shed light on the phonological analysis. Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Mark 16:17; Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 14:4; Jude 20.

Guided Prayer:

Gracious Father in heaven, I thank you for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit, and my supreme ability to speak heavenly supernatural language as I communicate mysteries to your majestic heart and eternality. I'm forever grateful that I possess the gift of tongues which is phonological and transformational in its supernatural transmission, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
