Reference: Isaiah 63:14 New Living Translation (NLT)
"As with cattle going down into a peaceful valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led your people, LORD, and gained a magnificent reputation."
Today's focus is on the segmentary statement:
You led your people, LORD, and gained a magnificent reputation.
God's leading strategy encapsulates our Christian journey under His utmost sovereignty. As we commune directly with the Almighty and follow the leading of His Spirit, as those who love Him wholeheartedly, He activates His superior Kingdom in our hearts and world.
Being led by the Spirit means that you have the Holy Spirit who empowers you to recognize God's way and authority. If you don't have the Holy Spirit, you cannot be led by Him. How can I have the Holy Spirit? Firstly, I must be born again. To that effect, the Lord Jesus said,
"Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again'" (John 3:6-7 NIV). So that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
At that point in time, Israel's Roman occupiers had given a small group of Sadducees and Pharisees limited powers to rule, and Nicodemus was one of the Pharisees. On that account, Nicodemus held a seat on the ruling council known as the Sanhedrin, but interestingly, He was among those who followed Jesus secretly and sought for His teaching. This implies that he believed more about Jesus than he wanted others to know, so he secretly came at night to acknowledge that the signs Jesus was doing were proof that God is with Him.
Jesus began to teach him in that regard, renewing his mind and transforming his attitudinal attentiveness on the matter of being born again, which remains the mainstay for entering the Kingdom of God before being led by the Spirit of this Kingdom to live a spiritual life and gain manifold understanding of spiritual truths. Beloved, you cannot be led by the Spirit, if you have not experienced the new birth. And if you have not experienced the new birth, then you are functioning under the influence of Adamic nature. Why?
The Scriptures tell us, "The first man, Adam, became a living person." But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven (1 Corinthians 15:45-47 NLT).
By reading and digesting the above Scripture, we can eagerly comprehend that we all first arrived on earth in the natural body - as natural man with Adamic nature. For that reason, Nicodemus said to the Lord, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" (John 3:4 NKJV). Now I reckon that the purpose which recommends that the two questions Nicodemus had asked are a logical expression considered as an erroneous interpretation of being born again - implies the difficulty of believing in the new birth in the face of Christ. And today, this sort of logical influence is what has kept a lot of people from experiencing the new birth, let alone being led by the Spirit.
Dearly Beloved, the only way to receive the Holy Spirit and be led by Him is to receive Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord because He is the only One that brought salvation to all men. He carries the embodied grace of God that brings salvation to all men. So therefore, the divine procedure that gives rise to the experience of new birth cannot work when and where it is not applied. Firstly, you must be born again. Then you can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. On account of the second truth, Jesus said in Luke 11:13, "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (NIV).
Receiving the Holy Spirit and being led by Him are a two-fold participatory process that positions you to keep pursuing God's will and the advancement of His Kingdom purposes, thereby making your salvation wonderfully active where unbelief had settled within you before, because He suddenly awakens a whole mass of inward vigour and spiritual power within you, with an enduring desire to commune directly with God, and be led in accordance with His perfect will.
For a start, to experience the salvific power of the Lord, declare the prayer below from the depth of your heart. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Isaiah 11:2; Matthew 12:31-32; John 14:15-17; Romans 15:13.
Salvific prayer:
I acknowledge today that God demonstrated His unconditional love for me in this: While living without Christ, He sent Him ahead of time to die for me. Therefore I accept Jesus as my Saviour now. I believe and confess with all my heart that Jesus is the Son of the true living God, who died for me and was raised from the dead on the third day by God. I affirm that Jesus is risen and He's alive forever. I accept Him into my heart and I declare His Lordship over my life forever. I'm now born again as a new creation. I have eternal life: my present-moment reality. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and taking full charge of my life, as my Lord. GLORY TO GOD!
