KING ETERNAL - PART 2

MONDAY 19 JUNE 2023

Today I want to bring the word, "King Eternal" down to earth, so we can understand what it means and how it applies to our everyday Christian life. And I have sustained that purpose below!

Reference: 1 Timothy 1:17 New International Version (NIV) "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen."

I am going to consider the terms apostle Paul used to emphasize his expression of admiration and gratitude to God - in their order of succession. They are as follows: To the King 1. Eternal 2. Immortal 3. Invisible 4. The only God

By looking at the word, "Eternal", King Eternal simply means that the Almighty exists forever; He is without end. Moreover, in depth of enlightenment, there is more to the word, "Eternal" than just lasting forever. The Greek translation is vast in "the" understanding. It is richly informative because it deals with all aspects or elements of God's eternality. The first translation in Greek Grammar is "aiónios" which means agelong. The second is "Zoe" life which is an eternal gift that God shares with people whom He has given spiritual birth in Christ (see Romans 6:23 NIV). He makes them new creation, thereby installing His divine nature in them which grants them all the inherent attributes of eternal life. The third translation is "Aidios" which denotes everlasting nature of God. The fourth is "Klèronomeò" which suggests the partaking of eternal salvation in Christ in the Kingdom of light (see Hebrews 5:9 NIV).

The fifth is "Klèronomia" which is used to denote eternal glory in the consummated Kingdom of God, to be effectuated after the visible presence of Christ when He returns for His body (the church). The sixth is "Karpos" meaning fruit, and that is, Christ living His life through us to yield what is eternal (see Galatians 2:20 NLT). The seventh is "Pnuema", that is wind or spirit, which is the part of man that wields the power to perceive and grasp divine and eternal realities, and upon that part, the Spirit of God exerts its influence. The eighth is "Ouranos" which denotes heaven; the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummated perfect, where God dwells with other heavenly beings. The ninth is "Aitios" which denotes the source and originator of eternal life (see John 10:28 NIV/1st John 5:11 NIV).

All these translations are of eternal significance in every aspect of the Christian life and they are gained by walking with God and living by faith in Christ. The eternal force in us is Christ Himself and we have a strong persuasion of His presence in our lives because we live by the power of the gospel truths which grant us the knowledge of His wisdom (or God's will). Then the Spirit of God is a very powerful evidence of the eternal truth we live by because He guides us into all truth convincingly. For insight into the next divine attribute, which is God being immortal, stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 8:35; 2 Corinthians 4:18; 1 Peter 5:10; 1 John 5:13.

Exuberant Declaration: God is eternal, and His divine attribute of life denotes His ability to provide life, even eternal life. I acknowledge that this kind of life is in Christ alone. Gratefully, I'm found in Christ and His life is the light in me. Hallelujah!
