THE EYE - PART 7

Reference: Matthew 6:22-23 New International Version (NIV)

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness."

The versified segment that still lingers in my heart and mind, and is designed for today's exposition is:

"But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness."

If a person's eyes are unhealthy, and they see and value the need to rectify it, how can they do so? The first place to start [or the first step to take] is the decision to be in Christ by meaningful declaration of salvific prayer, so they can start acknowledging and yielding to the source of right light, which is the Spirit of truth. That's exactly the lasting solution to unhealthy eyes.

The second step is for them to start receiving the right light voraciously, which richly emanates from the Word. To that effect, Psalm 119:130 reads, "The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple" (ESV). Beloved, this is the right kind of light that reforms unhealthy eyes, which cannot reflect, absorb and diffuse godly perspectives effectively.

The first segmentary statement of Psalm 119:130 which reads: "The unfolding of the words gives light" is an assured statement, true claim or a viable truth. The second segmentary statement has an object of influence, which is "the simple", meaning that the light from the Word imparts understanding to the simple.

Now watch this:

To unfold is to take place, or to develop. So as the Word is unfolded by taking place or by being developed through teaching, preaching and expository exertion, the true light is getting revealed, just like a perfume diffuses through a room. Interestingly, something else needs to happen, which is impartation. Bear in mind that a true light that is not imparted will not transform any object.

Again what is the "object" in the second versified segment of Psalm 119:130? The simple! The "spread out" Word imparts understanding to the simple who is present at the point of developing the rich flavour of the Word which trasmits the cognizance of true light. Got it?

Another important question is: Who is the simple? The simple is a system that wields a "tripartite" image. In other words, the simple is a term that is divided into three parts or which involves three parties. In accordance with modern Greek language, the three-fold structure is as follows:

Masculine (Male)

Feminine (Female)

Neuter (Non-reproductive person or impotent animal).

The Word that gives true light can impart a male or anyone having qualities traditionally associated with men. It can equally impart a female or anyone having qualities associated with women or girls. Also, it can impart a non-effective person, animal or object, having qualities proportionally linked to a gender category that is neither masculine nor feminine, depending on the context of any given situation.

Beloved, when the light of divine wisdom and understanding is imparted to the simple, the most common equivalent or outcome is the ability to gain effective healthy eyes and experience the dispelment of darkness, misconception and lack of comprehension. Stay tuned for the next part of this wonderful topic. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Psalm 119:105; Romans 10:17; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Timothy 3:16.

Exuberant Declaration:

The light of God's Word is my goodly heritage, and by exercising my healthy eyes in a tenacious manner, my spirit, soul and body, which are indicative of my whole body, are continually filled with true light. Hallelujah!
