HOW TO BE GUIDED IN THE TRUTH
Having the right guidance in life is the most valuable asset and blessing we can enjoy as Christians. Through proper guidance, we receive instructions on how to deal with life's challenges and problems we encounter and triumph over them.
We also get the right direction from effective guidance, thereby knowing what to do in any given circumstance and how to handle any situation with the right mindset. This means that we need a sure guide who can guide us in the truth about anything in life.
Reference: John 16:13 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 'But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.'
From time to time, we need to be guided in the truth about anything in life as God's own children. And we need specific and accurate guidance in our lives in order to navigate successfully in fulfilling destiny. Do you have any challenge, decision, or circumstance bothering you? Do you need God's guidance today? Of course we all do! However, the golden news is: we have available to us, the most perfect Guide to lead us throughout the twists, turns, and challenges of life. And His Name is the Precious Holy Spirit.
The Bible says in Romans 8:14 (AMP), 'For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.' As born again Christians, we've been granted full access to the guidance of the Holy Spirit who resides in us. No true child of God is exempt from the Holy Spirit's guidance but its up to us to yield to His leadership. We don't earn His guidance automatically; we have to cooperate with Him. God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit because He wants to see us enjoy the abundant life He has planned for us. But we must train ourselves to yield to His guidance, otherwise, we won't experience the results of His perfect guidance.
It's also important to acknowledge that the Holy Spirit and the Word work perfectly together. One does not contradict the other. Both the Holy Spirit and the Word are vital in living a successful Christian life. And God's Word says in Galatians 5:16-18, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
The guidance of the Spirit is often in direct opposition to the lifestyle of the world. His desire is always to guide us in the right direction, away from sin that entangles us in the perspectives and pressures of the world. As we fellowship with Him, we strengthen our intimate relationship with our heavenly Father and He guides us into every truth regarding our destiny in Christ, such that we experience a lifestyle of peace, joy, and righteousness. All of His guidance is purposed toward one goal, and that is, abundant life in God. He grants us the fullness of satisfaction in God.
So how do we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit toward that abundant life? Galatians 5:25 says, 'If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.' How do we "keep in step with the Spirit"? It all starts with spending time getting to know the person of the Holy Spirit. He has a personality. He has a voice and His guidance goes in a certain way, which guarantees inner peace.
Just as you get to know a person, you can get to know the Holy Spirit. The best way to know the Spirit of God is to spend time with God's Word and fellowship with Him in prayer. As you do, you will begin to discern and enjoy His guidance.

Guided Prayer: Blessed Father, you are my heart's treasure and sure guide. Thank you for teaching me how to be guided in the truth by your Spirit. Therefore, precious Holy Spirit, I trust your judgements. As I pray and walk by your enablement, the voice of your illuminating comfort influences my thoughts, words, and actions to testify to the truth in all my ways, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
