GREAT IS YOUR MUNIFICENCE - PART 3

MONDAY 08 APRIL 2024

Why should a godly intention be linked together with a proficient ability to fulfil such intention? Let's find out below!

Reference: Psalm 71:15 New King James Version (NKJV)

My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.

If you observe the Psalmist's vocabulary, you'll surely notice that he wasn't testifying about God's righteousness and salvation but he was simply intending to do so verbally, meaning that there was something within him preparing to instruct his mouth (the uprightness of his inward being).

Now, let us reconsider the rendering of the versified structure in the first written section:

"My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day..."

The keyword I want to bring to your attention in this sentence is "shall."  The two vital dictionary definitions of "shall" are stated as follows:

(1). [in the first person] expressing the future tense, and (2). expressing a strong assertion or intention.

For the Psalmist, it was a monumental cogitation on God's righteous acts and the deeds of His salvation, which he was planning to express by words of mouth. We could say that it was a strong intention yet to be given an audible influence. To instantiate this verity, his context reminds me of the scene indicating Noah's altar which he built for the Lord with a special burnt offering of ritually "acceptable" clean animals and clean birds.

The Bible says, "The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease" (Genesis 8:20-22 NIV/NKJV).

Beloved, it is unmistakably recognizable that God did not verbalize his rumination in Genesis 8:20-22, meaning that He wasn't talking to Noah but to Himself in His heart; so it was an unheard and unspoken conversation. The notion of the rendering says it all: "The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in HIS HEART..." This is exactly the "sensible" underlying thoughts exuded by the Psalmist, which was made explicit in our versified reference for this topic, though it requires attentive observative analysis.

If I met someone whose mind and thoughts are engulfed by the blessing of God's wondrous deeds, and I discerned it to be true, this would be my candid exhortation to the person: If the heart is willing to tell of His righteousness and salvation, then let there be a corresponding action by indulging in a mouth-filled declaration and paean, thereby describing the intents of such heart, cheerfully. So it is not enough to contemplate or cogitate on the goodness of God and His faithful deeds with ardent alacrity, the verbal demonstration is of equal importance, because nobody knows what you are cogitating about until you begin to verbalize such intention.

This is likened to Pauline epistolary exhortation in 2nd Corinthians 8:10-11, in keeping with the saints' financial giving and enormous support. In that fashion, Paul said, "This is what I think you should do: Last year you were the first to want to give, and you were the first who gave. So now finish the work you started. Then your "doing" will be equal to your "wanting to do" (NCV). Got it? A cogitative willingness to do, should be accompanied by or activated by "doing it". Hallelujah!

Some of you reading this article may have sustained a joyous process of being engrossed by His goodness and mercies, and may have even vowed to publicly testify of His righteous acts and saving grace, yet you have not fulfilled your vow to God or to yourself. What are you waiting for? Beloved, like Jeremiah, get weary of holding that testimony in; open your mouth and testify! Stay tuned for part 4. Shalom!
