LET THE PEACE OF GOD RULE YOUR HEART
MONDAY 25 APRIL 2022
Whatever rules in your heart is what controls your life. If you let the peace of God become the moral principle that governs the issues that flow in your heart, the effect of its rule will find expression in all your indulgence and engagements. The peace of God is the result of trust and consciousness of your union with Christ. Our activated internal knowledge base, fastened with the cincture of bond we share with Christ, is what keeps us in the realm of God's rest.
Reference: Colossians 3:15 New King James Version (NKJV) 'And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.'
When you allow the peace of God to rule in your heart, you are in agreement with the most superior force in the universe. Every born again Christian has been positioned in the realm of divine peace because of Christ in them. In John 14:27 (NIV) Jesus said, 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.' So you already have peace. But you must understand that it Is your responsibility to activate it and heighten the "awareness" level in your Christian walk, otherwise, it would remain dormant and seem overshadowed by negativity or forces of unfavourable situations and outcomes.
Let your heart and mind be ruled by this Godly peace. This is the kind of peace that is not tied to people or to the elements of this world (earth realm). Instead its a peace anchored within the veil of heavenly realms, such that even if the voices of unrest, confusion, worry or trouble in the world arise all at once, they cannot influence or subdue it in your life. So let this become your ultimate goal: To enjoy and maintain the peace of God that assures rest in all circumstances and in all kinds of season. This means - Its your responsibility to let the peace of God rule in your heart.
How do we get this peace activated to rule in our hearts? First, understand that rulership has to do with responding to authority. If you are not fully submitted to Christ's authority, the peace of God can't rule in your heart successfully. Let us picture an ancient Roman soldier under authority. One of the basic equipment of an ancient Roman soldier was scutum. Each soldier was always armed with this large shield (scutum) because the shield provided much protection and by instruction, they must wear it. So is the peace of God.
In Christ, you must wear the peace of God because it offers powerful protection and ensures your serenity in the world of chaos, uncertainty, crisis and tribulation. No wonder Philippians 4:7 (NIV) says, 'And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.' Here it was rendered as the word, 'guard', which suggests 'absolute protection'. To function in this peace, you need to always yield your mind and spirit to the ministry of God's Word. Love God and practise His Word.
Those who are in continual fellowship with the Word of God have and enjoy steady peace in their lives. And here's the secret: Do not allow the Word of God depart from your mouth (Joshua 1:8 NIV). Meditate on it day and night. Psalms 119:165 (NIV) reads, 'Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.' Notice that it says, 'Great peace'. That means - their peace is surplus in nature, flow and operation. Did you get it? Praise God!
Isaiah 26:3 (AMPC) assures that God will guard and keep anyone in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on Him, because the person commits himself to God, leans on God, and hopes confidently in God.' Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Isaiah 26:12; John 16:33; Galatians 5:22; Isaiah 55:12; 1 Peter 5:7; Isaiah 54:10; 2 Thessalonians 3:16.
Exuberant Declaration: I sustain perfect peace of mind because I function from a position of rest in all areas of my life. The peace of God that guards my mind and energises my inner man, grants me joy, rest and dominion that is far beyond all issues of life and every circumstance. As a valuable asset from God, it ensures all-round stability in my life and pathway. Therefore by establishing it in my heart as an authority, I live my life to the full; I rejoice in His presence everyday and I enjoy the treasures of His pleasure in my world. Hallelujah!
