GOD IS EVERYTHING YOU NEED
God is all you need. By this I mean, our walk on earth requires us to know and focus on God who made us for a purpose. When your aim is to know the Lord, it means that you're nurturing the desire to understand Him better; thus you plan to know His heart and experience His goodness. Today, we are going to know how best to position ourselves to do this.
Reference: Psalm 34:8 King James Version (KJV)
'O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.'
To 'taste and see' is to 'try and experience'. David has experienced God's goodness for himself in so many encounters. So he was encouraging God's people to discover the goodness of the Lord for themselves and experience what he was talking about, for themselves. There's a great difference between knowing there's God, and knowing Him for yourself. It's no longer about merely hearing of His goodness, but actively gaining your own personal knowledge - by experience, that God is good. The idea is that, by putting your trust in God and by testing His comforts - you would perceive and reap the blessings associated with God.
Today we hear many preachers inviting people to come and try God and see the difference, which is the right thing. However, the gospel truth is that people don't just need to try God; everyone needs God. God is not an option; He is the option. Just as a fish does not need to try water to survive; we don't need to try God to survive. A fish needs water to live; same way, we need God to live. Think about this: a mango seed can only grow when planted in a soil; it cannot grow when placed on a concrete or cement. Likewise, you don't try God; you must walk with God because your survival is dependent on Him.
Move from 'tasting God' to 'enjoying your walk with God'; that should be your spiritual experiences which is rooted in your spiritual enlightenment and understanding of His Word (see 1 Peter 2:2-3). When you walk with God, your will is going to align with His will. Since you're walking side by side with Him, your focus will be on Him. There is no other way of really knowing that God is good, than walking with Him and trusting Him because indeed, blessed is the man that trusts in Him. You may ask, 'but how do I start my journey or walk with God?' It's simple. Give your life to Christ and make Him your Lord.
Jesus said to Nicodemus, "I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God" (John 3:3 NLT). You need to receive Jesus and make Him your Lord, in order to walk with God. So the main focus is to walk with God and make heaven. In other words, walking with God is beyond tasting and enjoying His goodness here on earth; its a preparation on earth to spend eternity with Him.
