Reference: Ecclesiastes 3:11 New International Version (NIV)

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

Today's focus in this article is still on this segmentary statement:

"He has also set eternity in the human heart."

It's of beneficial importance to be furnished with the cognizance regarding God's perspectives when studying the above segment, acknowledging that the interpretation of "setting eternity in the human heart" must never be subjective. God made it so, meaning that it is a reality; He truly planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of that very implantation from beginning to end. Eternity was not planted in few people's heart, but in the heart of all humanity, and it reflects God's signature in the creation of mankind.

Now what is eternity? Eternity is the opposite of time, which means timelessness or unending duration; it doesn't mean eternal life. You can also call it eternal duration but not eternal life.

However, to function in eternity, you need to gain the ability to live forever, which is immortality. That ability is a function of a unique life in Christ Jesus known as eternal life. So this is where the salvation that is in Christ Jesus comes in, because it grants you the advantageous access to eternal life. Are you with me? To that effect, Johannine literature numbered as 1st John 5:12 (NLT).

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life."

Like I mentioned earlier, eternity is not eternal life; eternity is endless existence or duration. But you need eternal life to spend eternity. You got it! Where can you find this kind of life? This life is in the Son of God, namely Christ. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have eternal life, and therefore he cannot spend eternity with God.

To instantiate this verity from an earthly standpoint, it is likened to when a man decides to visit a foreign country. Before He travels out of his own country, he needs a currency conversion between currencies from both different countries, which are "his home currency" and the "local currency" of the place he is travelling to. And as a mindful traveller, he knows it is more rewarding to buy his travel money before his travel, and this illuminatory instantiation is synonymous with the Parable of the Ten Virgins.

Furthermore, the overall illustration is exactly the connection between eternal life and eternity. Eternal life is the requisite currency for spending eternity with God. And therefore, you must obtain eternal life on earth, which is resident in Christ alone, because it is the life that opens the portal of eternity already planted in human heart by Supreme Deity.

Into the bargain, under the heaven, time exists, and within the earthly activities, Chronos and Kairos happen to everyone alive, and they are intertwined concepts. Understanding both of the factors is crucial for analyzing how eternal life is granted to the elect in time. To shed more light on this revelatory insight, like I did in the previous article, let's take a look at the versified statement below - with an observatory and evocative intelligence on the embedded information:

Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NKJV)

"I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favour to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all."

Now mark the phraseology starting with a coordinating conjunction, "But time and chance happen to them all." Time, in this versified statement refers to Chronos, while chance, refers to Kairos. As humankind live in "time" (Chronos), the elect who are preordained for eternal life will experience the "chance" (Kairos moment) to receive the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, thereby positioning them to obtain eternal life that is needful - for spending eternity with God. Stay tuned for part 7. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 8:35; John 10:28-30; 2 Corinthians 4:18; John 17:3.

Exuberant Declaration:

I have eternal life, which is a life that can never perish, and a portal to eternity. This life is in Christ Jesus and its functional in me, reflecting the glory of God, who is greater than all. Hallelujah!
