ETERNAL LIFE
FRIDAY 25 JUNE 2021
Eternal life is a life without end. To believe on the Name of the Son of God and declare Him as Lord are the gateway to having eternal life. Eternal life is not cheap, yet its free of charge. By this I mean that it cost the Son of God His very own life but none of us pays or paid any price to receive it. Indeed, there is absolute joy in having this knowledge because it is not a common or ordinary life. The possession of this life is only possible by faith through belief in the Son of God.
Reference: 1 John 5:12 New Living Translation (NLT)
"Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life."
For everyone on earth, there is serious need to receive and have Christ because only Christ can save and give eternal life. Whoever does not have Christ doesn't have eternal life even though they are physically alive. So the focus of this Scripture is eternal life that only the Son of God can offer. Jesus is life and He is the Author of eternal life. Thus, John the Evangelist is establishing a foundational truth that receiving Him is the ultimate access to abundant life on earth and eternal life.
Jesus Christ is genuineness of life, and He demonstrated the proof of a life of active righteousness during His days on earth. He was the example of true fulfilment of life on earth, and also the only way to really know our Father in heaven. Although the world is full of evil and under the dominion of Satan, it was for this purpose Jesus was born and come into the world to die for mankind. The Bible says in John 3:16 (NIV), "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
When we believe in Jesus and receive Him as Lord, we partake of His nature and have eternal life. This is when we have the right to become the children of God, who are set apart from the world. The Bible says, "But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12 NLT). By this same right, we can truly love and fellowship with God the Father.
Gratefully, we can experience continuity in our relationship with God because Jesus asked the Father to grant us the gift of the Holy Spirit who indwells us as Christians. John 14:17 (KJV) reads, "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." I see this verse as a great privilege that we can have true fellowship with the Almighty, because those who do not have Christ cannot have such.
Jesus sacrificed and laid down His life for us, in order to reconcile us to God through His death on the cross. Romans 5:10 (NASB): "For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Therefore, it is important to know that eternal life and our fellowship with God particularly come through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
In His concluding affirmation, John the Evangelist wrote: "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13 NIV). If you are yet to receive Christ, make Him your Lord and have eternal life, please declare the prayer of salvation below and receive my congratulations in advance. Shalom!

Guided Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge today that you demonstrated your unconditional love for me in this: While I'm living without Christ, you sent Him ahead of time to die for me. Therefore, I renounce the nature of sin by believing and confessing with all my heart that Jesus is the Son of the true living God, who died for me and was raised from the dead on the third day by God. I believe that He is risen and alive forever. I accept Him into my heart and I declare His Lordship over my life now and forever. From this very moment, I'm born again; thus I've become the righteousness of God in Christ. I'm a new creation and I have eternal life: my present-moment reality. Thank you Father and my Lord Jesus for saving me and taking full charge of my life, Amen!
