CONSIDER THE LORD JESUS - PART 9

SATURDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2024

O city of God, what glorious things are said of you! Interlude. The city has been translated to mean "so dear to God" in many different ways, which we shall consider so in today's article. Beloved, don't be barren in the knowledge of Christ and of His heavenly Kingdom, whose death and resurrection elevated us to the highest position in the heavenly realms in Christ. On account of this verity, if then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. More below!

Reference: Hebrews 3:1 English Standard Version (ESV)

"Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession."

To share in a heavenly calling, you must observe the spoken realities about the city of God, namely Zion. Why? Such glorious effects convey the finest kind of wisdom and truth about our heavenly calling, and also increase our perception and the understanding of its revelation that inspire dedication in our Christian faith. They are versified references that enhance our communication with, and our connection to divinity, plus the awareness of living in the Spirit. They also embolden our faith, hope and joy in the Lord, and equally empower us to keep our thoughts pure and heavenly. Therefore, let us find out, as well as cogitate on the glorious and wonderful things spoken of Zion:

Psalm 48:1-3

"The Eternal is great and mighty, worthy of great praise in the city of our True God, upon His holy mountain. Situated high above, Mount Zion is beautiful to see, the pleasure of the entire earth. Mount Zion, in the north, is the city of the great King. In her palaces, the True God has revealed Himself as a mighty fortress"(VOICE).

"And I looked, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him one hundred forty-four thousand who had his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads" (LEB).

Isaiah 28:16

"Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: 'Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a tested stone, A precious cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. The one who believes in it will not be disturbed'" (NASB).

Psalm 87:2

"The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob" (NIV).

Isaiah 2:2-3

"Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem" (NKJV).

Isaiah 33:20

"Look on Zion, the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode, a tent that will not be moved; its stakes will never be pulled up, nor any of is rope broken (NIV).
