CONSIDER THE LORD JESUS - PART 3

SATURDAY 09 NOVEMBER 2024

A lot of us do not yet understand why we must always consider the Lord Jesus, as well as the importance of doing so in our lives. One of the reasons is that it strengthens our predisposed cognizance and utmost conviction in relation to our true identity in Him.

Indeed, we are not common people, considering the truth that our calling is not earthly but heavenly. In addition, all such identifications and perceptions which are contrary to or lower than "heavenly realities" standard that expresses Christ's image will definitely limit the consciousness of who we truly are, and, if we are not mindful or careful, they will condition us to overlook the core of our real nature, which is divine (2 Peter 1:4 NIV).

Under the wrong influence of functioning as ordinary humans, we disconnect from (if not reject or abandon) our privileged ability to partake of and demonstrate the divine nature in a consistent manner. Inwardly, some born again Christians deny themselves of the grace to always appear God-like, because they acknowledge themselves as unworthy of being gods. However, I thank God for this topic which is designed to inspire the saints to sustain a "high level" flow of consciousness in learning Christ and in practising the character of His mindful supremacy, so as to function like Him in the earth realm.

Reference: Hebrews 3:1 English Standard Version (ESV)

"Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession."

Although this is still part of the introductory articles organized by the Spirit, the topic's revelatory insight will be expounded with a steady progression to precise definitions and analytical applications of the 3 segmentary questions that deal with the structure of the above versified reference.

And in this very article, I'm still teaching on the first interrogatory segment: What is a heavenly calling? Hallelujah!

First of all, let us revisit the versified rendering: "holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus..." Beloved, if you are called to share in a heavenly calling, and you often fail to consider the Lord Jesus Christ, you function as a mere man - which is in obvious disproportion to heavenly calling. Hear me, you must gain the rewarding understanding that we are not just one with Christ, we share His glory. More pertinently, Pauline epistolary expression says, "And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory..." (Romans 8:17 NLT). Beloved, being "fellow heirs with Christ" is a deeper level of being inextricably associated with Him.

Now watch this: In accordance with dictionary, the two literal meanings of the word "consider" are:

1. Think carefully about (something), typically before making a decision.

2. Look attentively at (that is, to contemplate or examine).

Both definitions convey a suggestive notion that denotes thorough rumination with an incentive to accessing the accurate understanding of the person in question, thereby determining His nature, His mindset conditions, and His operational significance. Many Christians experience earthly disconnection from their "life-size" spiritual stature with Christ when they fail to consider and identify with Jesus in their ways of doing things. To that effect, Colossians 3:1-3 reminds us: "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God" (NIV).

Are you aware that you need your mind to do various things, and in actual fact, all things in life? That's the main reason you must set your mind on things above, meaning a well directed "all-absorbing" focus on heavenly realities. Christ is already in you. So you don't set your mind on things above by looking heavenward. Christ brought heaven down to you, and by faith, He dwells in your heart through His indwelling influence, namely Holy Spirit (Ephesians 3:16-17). So the channel or frequency by which the consciousness of Christ transmits in your body and gets demonstrated in the physical world is your "sedulous focus on spiritual or heavenly realities" which are expressive of Christ. Therefore, a consolidated belief in the consistency of gaining divine inspiration from the Scriptures is a vital exigency.

Like I mentioned earlier, we need the mind to take delight in all things reasonably essential to a Christian lifestyle; therefore, setting our minds on things above is a matter of great importance. To instantiate the invaluable importance of this truth, a Christian may decide to do something or take an action, and his or her mind may come up with many suggestions along the way. If the Christian is not heavenly minded, he may easily follow the mind suggestions subconsciously, without regarding the will of God in the process. Although the capacity of this article will not permit me to continue this exposition, kindly stay tuned for inspired continuation in part 4. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 7:17; Philippians 1:27; Ephesians 4:1; Colossians 1:10.

Exuberant Declaration:

I have the mind of Christ which broadens my access to heavenly influences and provides divinely-inspired solutions, and its visible everywhere I go, and in everything I do. Praise God!
