BUILDING ON A SOLID FOUNDATION
To be a wise builder, the Word of God is required. But first of all, understanding your purpose in life can make all the difference to building the right foundation. The Bible mentioned much about the right and solid foundation, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone. That means the right foundation is located in Christ.
Reference: 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 New International Version (NIV)
'By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.'
One of the reasons for the problems inherent in some people's lives is the absence of a deep and firm foundation; and that is the Word of God. Everything we do should have its root in the Word of God.
Check the foundation of whatever you do or whatever you want to do. Is it based on the Word? Does it really have a solid foundation? The great and magnificent buildings we see in big cities around the world were not built in a hurry or carelessly. The builders took their time and laid a very deep and strong foundations. However once in a while, you may come across buildings that are shallow, because they have no strong foundations.
A foundation always determines how successful anyone will be in whatever they get involved in. There should be a right foundation for the structure you want to build. It is applicable to every area of life. Is it about your career, ministry, business, finances, family, relationships and so on? Endeavour to built on a solid foundation.
Luke 6:47-49 (NIV) says, 'As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.'
Anything raised on ungodly foundations is easily destroyed because all ungodly foundations are like sand (see Matthew 7:26). Therefore, reject any ungodly foundations. Don't be tempted to build on it. Even if you spend much resources, it will not last long.
