A GENEROUS MAN - PART 2

THURSDAY 19 DECEMBER 2024

Reference: Isaiah 32:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

"But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand."

A generous person with a godly mindset can always be trusted to make helpful plans, and by his generosity, he shall stand. What does the book of Isaiah mean in terms of this truth: "by generosity he shall stand"?

The truth reflects a confluence of three relatively-separable notions: Firstly, it means that he stands firm for what is honourable, and persists in it. Secondly, he is considered strong in the strength of applied generosity. Then thirdly, by his generosity, he stays grounded in Him who gives him power to be successful and gain resources, that is, by virtue of his living union and bold identification with God, who empowers him with a munificent ability (see Deuteronomy 8:18 NLT).

If you observe our referenced Scripture carefully, you'll notably acknowledge that the versified statement started with "But" which is a coordinating conjunction connecting two ideas that contrast. This implies that the concept embedded in the previous verse (Isaiah 32:7 NLT) denotes that the inspired tricks of scoundrels are evil. They plot crooked schemes, and they lie to convict the poor, even when the cause of the poor is just, "BUT" a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand.

There are negative inferential cognizance and influences, particularly - human maltreatment and the perpetuation of parsimonious and difficult temperament, which are assumed to shape the trait of meanness in a cheese-paring personality. For instance, some exploitative people and unpathetic individuals function at "high level" expression of meanness and disinhibition associated with increased frequency of results that suggest "illiberal" behaviour and selfishness. Facial expression of an angered emotion is also a possible evidence in the light of appraisal consideration of a mean person. Such a person can easily get enraged or impatient when it comes to helping others in any way or form, signalling a possible disagreeable expression or act that is highly uneasy to all manner of well-being.

On the contrary, generosity is conceptualized as reflecting an adaptive expression of a dispositional factor that portrays virtuous thoughts and open heart, full of benevolent mindedness, which in turn, can impart a cheerful countenance in others. So the generous man devises generous things, unlike a person who treats other people very badly and has no moral principles. Even concerning the things a generous person prays for, you can often sense a moral foundation for selfless prayer requests on behalf of others, that are more of intercessory influence, rather or otherwise than a callous and constant "self-interested" prayer in his petitionary pursuits.

One more putative-inspired point that comes to mind when I reflect on the timeless verity that "by generosity, a generous man shall stand" is that such noble actions are seen as a reflection of God's own generosity towards humanity. To instantiate this truth with a versified denotation, Isaiah 40:29 (NIV) enlightens that God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. In addition, James 1:5 (NIV) reads, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." By considering the ingrained connotations in both versified statements, we can comprehend that He gives strength and wisdom to those in mindful need of it, which typifies His ascribed generosity well exhibited in an exhilarating operation.

Beloved, the best or first-rate generous Deity is God, and the most generous gift He gave to mankind is Christ Jesus. For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son...John 3:16 (NLT). Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!
