YOU RECEIVE BY BELIEVING - PART 1

WEDNESDAY 11 MAY 2022

We fasten the aim and purpose of our prayer by believing that we received our desired request at the point of prayer. Admitting that we received answers to prayers helps us to concentrate on God's inability to fail or disappoint and also it empowers us to obsessively remain confident in His reliable Word.

Reference: Matthew 21:22 New International Version (NIV) "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

In the context of today's Scripture, to believe is to accept that something you are expecting from God exists or has already come true for you, especially while you are yet without the proof. When you pray, you must trust and establish in your heart that whatever the subject of the prayer is, God heard and answered you. Developing a firm belief after praying is capable of instilling a state of positive mental attitude in you. According to word study, 'to believe' is the Greek verb 'pisteuo' which suggests to "expect with a confident assurance."

To sustain a belief system based on the knowledge of God's Word, a true understanding of His truth regarding any subject matter or any situation you face, must be sourced and established by you. By this, I mean that the very Scriptures pertaining the need or request you make in prayer should be aptly located and put together, especially where they seem to have a similar meaning, and then, you meditate on them as much as possible, before you pray.

Admittedly, God introduced in His Word on how to freely obtain the truth from the Scriptures concerning any situation or issues. As you search and study the Scriptures, the specific truths you require will be revealed by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to guide us into all truth (John 16:13 NLT). Why must you search and study the Scriptures before you pray? Why don't you just start praying anyhow you want? This is because you need the right and precise knowledge in order to approach God regarding the matter so you can nail it. John 5:39 (NIV) reads, "You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life..." Another Scripture Isaiah 41:21(NIV) says, "Present your case," says the LORD. "Set forth your arguments," says Jacob's King.

Indeed we cannot present a compelling request or any persuasive and convincing reasoning before God - without an informative evidence from the Word. The Biblical truths that back up your prayer requests must be plausible, as well as sustain a suasory connotation, which are indicative of effectively conveying the full interpretation of your heart-felt desire or request. Remember that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, which suggests that if you avoid searching for Biblical truths concerning your prayer requests, He (the holy Spirit) is under no obligation to open your understanding about them. This is the same with anyone who assumes that they already know enough about their request, to pray without studying the Scriptures.

And here is another important truth: Be ardently prepared to upgrade your existing knowledge, if the Spirit of God reveals something new to you as you search the Scriptures. Remember that the goal of your prayer request is to effect a significant change with the belief system you currently hold in line with the Word. However when a progressive knowledge is revealed through your search and response to Scriptures, the Spirit of God will bless and empower you with an advanced understanding to approach the request - with a view of greater degree of accurate insight into the matter - in accordance with God's perfect will. And guess what! With an open and a humble heart, you'll obtain mercy and sufficient grace to establish your desired expectation (Hebrews 4:16 NIV). Shalom!
