THOSE THAT FEAR HIM - PART 2

WEDNESDAY 14 FEBRUARY 2024

I was contemplating this in my closet, "What must have crowded the Psalmist's mind when He wrote this down?" I understand that it stemmed from divine inspiration, considering the entirety of the context within the corridor of the versified chapter, but his specific communication in our referenced Scripture came across to me, as an Evangelist's notion of a comforting reminder, which he used to assure those who fear the Lord, that they can never be ignored or forsaken in their hope for His favour and deliverance.

Indeed, blessed is the man whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen for His inheritance. From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place, He watches all who live on earth - He who forms the hearts of all, and considers everything they do. More below!

Reference: Psalm 33:18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

"Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who wait for His faithfulness."

Note the word "Behold" in our versified reference, which is to notice, observe or become aware of. Simply put, the Psalmist wants us to observe that the eye of the Lord is on those that fear Him. If you belong to God, you must know that He is doing something about your belongingness, and one of His actions is that His eyesight (faculty of visual perception) has invested His focused concentration on you in a consistent manner and with the bond of love.

Practising the "fear of the Lord" captures God's enraptured attention and separates us from the mass of people and things that have zero consciousness of God's ownership and do not yield themselves up to His fear. Got it?

We cannot continually live to honour God, and be devoted to His service, unless we are being made perfect in the fear of the Lord, thereby becoming more like Christ, in whom we live, move and have our being. To that effect, 2 Corinthians 7:1 reads, "Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (NKJV).

On one hand, a born again Christian can only capture God's full attention by yielding his heart and will entirely to the Spirit of God through a continual optimal alignment with the character and life of the Spirit, and this happens by the effects that emanate from engaging the fear of the Lord. On the other hand, the eye of the Lord is God's stamp upon His own precious and most prized possession. He does it with all pleasure and delight, in order to acknowledge that "this new creature belongs to Me."

Let me ask this question: How many of us keep an eye on our properties or personal belongings? If you are guilty of this...then you should understand the Psalmist's mind within the circumference of His communication, which has informed you that the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him. God keeps an eye on His property, denoting those who walk in the likeness of His own character. Does this knowledge inspire you in any way? If so, stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Genesis 28:15; Deuteronomy 32:10; Proverbs 15:3; Psalm 32:8.

Exuberant Declaration:

I refuse to live a distracted and wayward life, because God is always mindful of me. Therefore, I manifest the consciousness of belonging to Him and recognising His abiding presence in my life; I'm ever ready to function in the fear of the Lord and to action His will at all times. Praise God!
