THE NAME: JESUS - PART 3

THURSDAY 28 DECEMBER 2023

The name of Jesus is the brightness of everlasting light. The New King James Version of Job 22:28 reads, "You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways." All born again Christians declare a thing in the name of Jesus, because the name mirrors divine power, and it is the image or front cover of all of God's goodness and promises. Everything you require in life, in line with the will of God, can be received in the name of Jesus. The hosts of heaven act in accordance with the victorious peculiarity of the name of Jesus, including the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Reference: Matthew 1:24-25 New International Version (NIV)

"...And he gave him the name Jesus."

The name, Jesus, represents the invisible brightness of spiritual light. It is a name that functions by way of preeminence, divine presence, distinction, and predominance, and for this reason, when we declare our agreement with the name, we activate our faith in whatever we believe God for, in all levels of Biblical truths.

The name of Jesus saves! Romans 10:13 reads, For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." You must be saved by the name to serve God in Spirit and in truth. Whosoever desires to walk with God must be saved by the name. 1st Corinthians 6:11 reads, "...But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (NIV). According to this versified statement, the name of Jesus is given for any man's salvation, sanctification and justification, a process through which faith is principally imparted to the human spirit.

In Acts 3:6 (NIV), Peter said to a lame man, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." What happened to the lame person? The name of Jesus established the light of divine healing on his legs. Beloved, the name of Jesus exudes higher features of miraculous wonders. In Luke chapter 10, after the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two to preach, the seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name" (verse 17). Remarkably, when they used the name of Jesus, demons bowed, and the miraculous became evident.

In Acts 8:12 (NLT), many people believed Philip's message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized. Why did they believe Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God? This was because the "power" in name of Jesus was involved; as a result, those who believed were baptized, both men and women. The Bible says, "There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 NLT). Here, the identity and highest authority embedded in the name of Jesus was affirmed. No other name in heaven and on earth is qualified to save.

His name is the perfect symbol of the seal of our salvation. Why? He executed the office of the High Priest by offering up Himself as a perfect sacrifice, and His sacrifice was fully acceptable to the Father; hence, the name is our only and most mighty Mediator in heaven, as the Great High Priest who surpasses all the other high priests. Having completed the work of redemption, He is now seated at the right hand of God in the highest heavens with supreme honour and dominion. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - John 14:13; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 4:30; Romans 10:13.

Exuberant Declaration:

The glorious exaltation of the name of Jesus is expressive of divine power, greatness and glory, and it possesses the highest honour in heaven and on earth. The name transforms, sustains, empowers and heals, and through Him, the glory and majesty of God the Father shines brightly. Praise God!
