THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE - PART 1
WEDNESDAY 12 APRIL 2023
Fountain of life is the source or Author of life. Jesus Christ is the fountain of divine life. His love for us and the desire that led Him to die for mankind shows that He came to give us eternal life so that none of us would perish. Yes! He is rich in mercy, He longs for the repentance of all mankind, and He's full of gift of grace and eternal love. In fact, in the Bible, there's more than enough information about Christ that points to validity or soundness of the truth that Christ is the fountain of life.
Reference: Psalm 36:9-10 English Standard Version (ESV) "For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light."
When you are in union with Christ, who is the fountain of life, it means that you've made viable connection with true light, and believe me, the connection is profound in nature. The Bible says in John 1:4-5 (NLT) that "The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." Have you noticed the strong connection between His life and true light?
Beloved, as the fountain of life, Christ gave life to everything that was created, especially the new creation, and beyond that, His life brought light to us. This light inspires the faith with which all born again Christians are endued, and it does wonders, in relation to our exposure to spiritual realities. When a man comes to Christ, the light justifies him, and removes the mountain of sin, such that condemnation associated with sinful nature, can never rise up in judgment against him. It doesn't just remove the barrier of sin that keeps one far from God, it also makes one right before God, thereby purifying the Christian's heart.
In John 8:12, The Bible recorded that when Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (NIV). There are several types of light and they have different sources. But the light from Christ is the light of life, which is also the light of the glorious gospel. For instance, in 2nd Corinthians 4:4, apostle Paul says, "the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God" (NIV). In other words, this light displays the glory of Christ and has a real power over all forms of darkness and satanic manipulations.
This light is also known as the Sun of righteousness, because it shines brightly like the light of the Sun, in the realm of the Spirit. That's the reason Christ is called the Sun of righteousness. This is plainly recorded in the book of Malachi. And it reads, "But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings..." (Malachi 4:2 NLT). The light of the righteous is as that of the Sun because Christ is their light. It also lightens their path. In line with this truth, our referenced Scripture noted that in His light, we see light. Zero wonder, Proverbs 4:18 says, "The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day" (NIV).
So as born again Christians, we have the light of the glorious gospel shining in our faces and it equally brightens our path, such that the chances of walking in darkness are eliminated. Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!
