PREFERENCE - PART 8

THURSDAY 06 JUNE 2024

Every king that had a rewarding encounter with Daniel acknowledged that exceptional qualities and extraordinary spirit were evidentially unhindered in him. And their true realisation of this irrefutable verity was Daniel's vindication and upliftment from time to time. More below!

Reference: Daniel 1:20  Amplified Bible (AMP)

"In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the [learned] magicians and enchanters (Magi) in his whole realm."

As a result of their encounters, this is the brief summary of king Nebuchadnezzar's description of Daniel:

Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream. (He is called Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him). Got it?

Another King known as Belshazzar, the chaldean king of Babylonia, was the predecessor and descendant of king Nebuchadnezzar. When he had his own problem too, the queen (Belshazzar's mother), overheard the words of the king and his nobles, and came into the Banquet area to introduce Daniel to King Belshazzar in his absence. And here is the introductory report:

Need I remind you that there is a gifted man in your kingdom who possesses the spirit of the holy gods. Years ago, during the days of your predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar, he was discovered to have insight, understanding, and wisdom like that of the gods. For those reasons, King Nebuchadnezzar put him in charge of the magicians, enchanters, chaldean astrologers, and diviners in his kingdom. He has special abilities, wisdom and knowledge and he is skillful in dream interpretation, riddle exposition and problem-solving strategies. King Nebuchadnezzar named him Belteshazzar.

The next king who gained control of the Babylonian kingdom when king Belshazzar was murdered was Darius the Mede. He also recognised Daniel's gifts which always came to light in the palace and then raised Daniel to the rank of a chief commissioner with two other fellows. Three of them were appointed to oversee and supervise the 120 satraps who were put in charge throughout the kingdom. So they were accountable to the three chief commissioners protecting the king's interests, which include Daniel. Moreover, because of Daniel's exceptional qualities, it wasn't long before he distinguished himself over the other two commissioners and officers. So the king decided to appoint him over the entire realms, although his new appointment did not sit well with the other commissioners.

The Webster's Bible Translation reads, "Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in Him; and the king thought to set Him over the whole realm" (Daniel 6:3). In other words, the Spirit of excellence made Daniel an emblem of special PREFERENCE and a constant subject of superiority, precedence and primacy focus. The entire palace didn't just believe in the authenticity of Daniel's qualities, his gifts were constantly encountered such that Daniel didn't have to prove anything, since the excellent spirit could not be quenched within him.

The Spirit of excellence is a highly rewarding, beneficial, advantageous and elevating atman. It focuses its subject or object on indispensable quality of headship and preference. It makes a man who has it in him, a high-priority personification of relevance in any situation at hand. Why was Daniel preferred above a high-level position such as presidency and a rank of princehood? Because an excellent spirit was operative in him, meaning that his excellence had no limitations whatsoever, especially in terms of rising in quality ranking, overpowering ascendancy and compelling pre-eminence.

To that effect, the expression, "to infinity and beyond" is synonymous with the symbolic encounters perpetuated by the Spirit of excellence in him. So one thing is certain: the Spirit of excellence will never cease to introduce preferment missions and elevation-related outcomes in a man's life until he is settled in a prominent place in order that his qualities may be readily seen and acknowledged in high places. Stay tuned for more on excellent spirit in part 9. Shalom!
