PHONOLOGICAL AND TRANSFORMTIONAL MYSTERY - PART 6

Reference: 1st Corinthians 14:2 New Living Translation (NLT)

"For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious."

Our referenced Scripture started with the phraseology, "For if you have the ability to speak in tongues..." What if you don't have the ability to do so? Question: Are you are a born again Christian? If so, have you received the Holy Spirit?

The invitation to receive the Holy Spirit is for all who are worthy to actively come alive in the Lord's presence and be practically exalted as a member of the heavenly assembly - one of the sons of God, which is deification. So its not enough to be born again, you must be constantly filled with the Spirit so you can function as a god on earth, and be treated accordingly by mere or ordinary humans.

To instantiate this phenomenal verity, Acts 19:1-6 reads:

"While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul travelled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers. "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" he asked them.

"No," they replied, "we haven't even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."

"Then what baptism did you experience?" he asked. And they replied, "The baptism of John."

Paul said, "John's baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus."

As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied" (NLT).

I believe the above versified passage is self-explanatory. It is therefore not automatically out of a belief in Christ that the gift of "speaking in tongues" can be possessed by a born again Christian; it is by impartation, as well as enthusiastic faith in receiving His infilling influence. Remember this: You believe that God is one; you do well [to believe that]. The demons also believe [that], and shudder and bristle [in awe-filled terror—they have seen His wrath]! (James 2:19 AMP).

Therefore, its not enough to be a trinitarian or believe in Christ, you must receive infilling of the Holy Spirit, so as to function under His governing influence. Why must you receive infilling of the Holy Spirit after being born again? Firstly, you can never live an effective or successful Christian life without Him. Secondly, without being filled with Him, you can never speak in tongues, which is the distinctive mark of communicating at God's level. So the observatory importance of Pauline epistolary understanding in accordance with 1st Corinthians 14:2 cannot be undermined in your Christian faith. It literally reads:

"For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding]" (AMPC).

Speaking in tongues is phonological mystery replete with secret truths and edifying inspirations that are heavily enwrapped and entertained in the presence of the Lord. This implies that every Christian should expect to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, because baptism in the Spirit is central to possessing the gift of tongues and speaking in varying tongues - which is the supernatural ability to communicate in mysterious languages unknown to the speaker.

In addition, we are not limited to simply possessing the gift of tongues, meaning that we can decode what is spoken or the embodied message. To that effect, Pauline epistolary platitude reads, "So anyone who speaks in tongues should pray also for the ability to interpret what has been said" (1st Corinthians 14:13 NLT). Therefore we are encouraged to pray for the discerning ability to interpret. How? Stay tuned for part 7. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Deuteronomy 18:2; Isaiah 55:10-11; 2 Kings 15:12; Jeremiah 29:10-11.

Guided Prayer:

Gracious Father in heaven, I'm forever grateful that my gift of tongues is fully furnished with sound speechifications that are largely addressed to you, which are perfectly normal in your presence. By speaking according to the utterance the Spirit gives, I also receive inexpressible blessings that the ordinary minds cannot fathom. Thank you Father for brightening the articulated pronouncement of my spiritual thoughts through the reinforcement of the influential understanding of your Word within me, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
