PAULINE DOXOLOGY - PART 4
MONDAY 06 NOVEMBER 2023
Today's article is majored on helping us to participate in Christ with a more detailed explanation and comprehension of the glorious gospel, according to Pauline epistles. More below!
Reference: Romans 16:25-27 New International Version (NIV) "Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith— to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen."
The first line or segment of my expository structure based on this topic is: "Now to Him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ"
Here is what this segment simply means: Pauline message has detailed spiritual information required for your all-round establishment.
What is Pauline message? It is the message in accordance with Paul's specific inspiration from the Holy Spirit, which proclaims Christ. So within the context of this segment, Paul was acknowledging the only One and true God who is able to strengthen us to function consistently with his good news and the preaching of Christ, which in turn, can establish us in every aspect of life. Zero wonder he recommended the ministry of the Word to us in Acts 20:32 saying, "And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified" (ESV).
I want you to understand that Pauline gospel wields "well constructed and convincing truths" that yield tremendous impact in our Christian faith. The analytic process involves "establishment phases and procedures" that move us from our initial identification with salvation and justification by faith to higher levels of spiritual understanding that can be gained through continual focus on higher dimension of divine truths, based on the context and detailed application of the good news from Paul that reveals the mystery, namely Christ.
Simply put, in order to be established in faith, we are to grow towards maturity through phases of spiritual understanding, as we keep applying the knowledge of Christ in our lives. To that effect, Hebrews 6:1 reads, "Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God..." (NIV).
The glorious gospel of Christ empowers us to grow in faith, but it requires the progression of accurate understanding in order to influence and facilitate our spiritual growth. When the precise application of the revealed gospel is at work effectively, it can promote a great sense of transparent transformation in our various circumstances or situational analysis.
So the glorious gospel according to Paul's teachings can establish us in every area of the Christian life, namely, spiritual gifts, character and fervency of the Spirit, Christian service, health and safety, wealth and prosperity, peace and joy, provision, abundance, victory, dominion, fruitfulness, good works, success and more.
Moreover, to get established in all these areas, we must continue to be strengthened in faith as we are being taught by Paul's gospel. To that effect, Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV) reads, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
