OUR FAITH PROFESSION

God has called and chosen us for the "profession of faith". We are not just the people of faith, faith is our divine profession. We are professors in the field of faith. Faith is the realm assigned to us as the saints primarily by the grace of God. Our faith qualifies and entitles us to receive the blessings of Christ's Kingdom. And in this profession, our heavenly father has made us meet for the inheritance of the saints as heirs of the Kingdom.

Reference: Hebrews 10:23 King James Version (KJV) "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)."

Beloved, the promised inheritance of our faith profession is sure because of the unquestionable nature and character of the Person that promised. Therefore, don't ever be careless or shallow about your Christian faith and don't take it for granted. God knows that He is faithful. He perfectly knows Himself and His personality. He is a supernatural God with supernatural attributes and qualities. He is immortal, eternal, self-existing and unchangeable in nature. We must have in mind that God is a Spirit; He's invisible and He has spiritual essence.

For these reasons, the writer of the Epistles to the Hebrews assures that God who promised is faithful. In other words, he is showing you a picture of His divine intelligence and conscience. His intelligence is the measure of His true character. He is true to His promises. The writer is also trying to convince you that He has a perfect memory. In other words, He remembers all things and everything He has promised. He is a God that can conceive of all possibilities divinely allocated to us as possession of His people in His kingdom. He knows what belongs to us as the "saints" and He has all the power to fulfil His promises, to enforce them in our lives and to sustain them through His Word-ability.

GOD'S WORD® Translation renders it this way: We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful. This shows that we must hold on to what we profess continually without giving room to any doubt. Why did I take time first, to list and analyse the true character and nature of God? It is because you can't actually hold firmly to your profession or declaration of faith, if you don't know God or trust His ability to deliver or perform. If you can't comprehend the dimensions and possibilities embedded in His essence, you can't trust Him enough to hold firmly to your faith declaration.

The knowledge of the God who has promised, gives value to your faith profession. You must be convinced at all times, that He is able to deliver and also to do exceeding abundantly above all that you ask, profess, declare or think (see Ephesians 3:20 KJV). So its important that you allow the knowledge of His personality to construct your belief system. Once you know that He is indeed faithful, you'll be fully convinced to ride on the wings of your faith profession. The conviction of His ability to deliver His Word gives us the assurance to hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering.

According to Colossians 1:12 (NIV), God has qualified us to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. So by knowing who has promised and who qualified us for Kingdom inheritance, we must hold fast to our trusting faith in God in order to receive our specific expectations or whatever He has said concerning us. For instance, Hebrews 11:11 (NASB) tells us that by faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised. Therefore, like Sarah, we should embrace the confidence and faith we have in Christ and receive our expectations and inheritance in the Word by acting accordingly. Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are a God of pure faithfulness. All men throughout the past and present generations have spoken well of your unfailing character in faithfulness. It is true that your Word is the source of all provision and inheritance in the Kingdom. By the revelation of your personality and grace, I cleave to my faith profession with full purpose of heart. My depth of persuasion about your promises is unshakable and it is perpetuated by the righteousness of your nature and character.
