The true nature of the word of Christ is that it arranges tremendous spiritual experiences for us, in accordance with the dictates, as we follow it. God has given us His Word which is expressive of Christ's character. Therefore, we are expected to stay under the ministry of the Word, live by it, as well as grow and function thereby day in, day out.

Reference: John 6:68 New Living Translation (NLT) Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life."

Eternal God was revealed in Jesus Christ as the supreme Deity through the Word. This very Word has divine attribute that describes an ability to provide eternal life. And this kind of life can only be given by Christ who is eternal (see 1 John 5:11-12 NIV).

This is the reason Peter acknowledged that Christ has the words that give eternal life. Now what makes this life superior? Eternal life has a real power over the earthly life of the world. In another way, it is the living power at work in a man who is born of the Word.

How do I practically function in eternal life? By feeding on the Word with a voracious appetite. Jeremiah 15:16 reads, "When I discovered Your words, I ate them up: they were my great joy and my heart’s delight. I am Yours, and I bear the name of the Eternal God, Commander of heavenly armies" (VOICE). Beloved, search for it daily; eat it; digest it! It is the fruitful source of divine thoughts and blessings. True wisdom is embedded in it and it strengthens you with sufficient spiritual knowledge that provides true and durable riches, which comes with honour from the Lord.

What is the significance of enriching yourself with the Word on a regular basis? 1st John 2:14 has the answer. The AMP reads, "I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong and vigorous, and the word of God remains [always] in you, and you have been victorious over the evil one [by accepting Jesus as Savior]" (AMP). Now watch this: Why did John mention about the eternality of Supreme deity in this Scripture? This is because the Word has revealed the reality of the Fatherhood of God as a living power, ever present with us and in us, who have accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

If you do not have the Word abiding in you, you will not function as the strong, and you'll not be vigorous and victorious over the evil one and the evil world. Understand that the Word is the incorruptible seed, fully decorated with divine nature, and it is instrumental in transmitting the life and power of God in and through born again Christians. When it abides in you richly, you'll continually remain victorious over the world, and it cannot be otherwise. Shalom!
