LET THERE BE LIGHT - PART 1

MONDAY 10 JUNE 2024

I am introducing a new topic, namely, LET THERE BE LIGHT. The expression in the Latin Vulgate Bible is known as fiat lux. In context of our referenced Scripture, "And said God let there be light, and there was light," the full latin translation is "dixitque Deus fiat lux et facta est lux." Indeed, you can't compare light with darkness, or the brightness of stars with the dimness of weak candle. More below!

Reference: Genesis 1:3 New International Version (NIV)

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

In accordance with the above versified reference, there was light. Why must there be light? The three aspects or entities of Trinity were fully active. Firstly, the earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. Then the third entity of the Godhead, namely Ruach Elohim (Allos Parakletos) was hovering over the water.

Secondly, light emerged because the voice of God spoke. Why must God's voice speak? Here is another point which needs clarification. His speech must be involved to action the manifestation of light. Think about it? Did God really have to speak? Did the Holy Spirit have to hover over the water? Was it not possible for God to just create the light by remaining silent? Did He really have to speak it forth? After all, there are many things people actualise by keeping silent. So God could've also created light without saying or verbalising it first.

Here is the point: The trinity is the unifying force of light. The Holy Spirit hovered over the water; then God spoke, meaning that three of them were present in the creative realities. Jesus was the spoken word. So God had to say it before light was established. Got it? Who was the Word made flesh? Jesus Christ. John 1:14 reads, "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us..." (NIV).

This is why Jesus said I am the light of the world (John 8:12 ESV). He couldn't have said it, if God didn't create all light by Him. In other words, He is the light of the world both ways (spiritual and physical light). We can observe this truth in Johannine literature numbered as John 1:4 which reads, "The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone" (NLT). There are two segments assigned to this verity in the versified statement. The first segment reads, "The Word gave life to everything that was created" which includes the heavenly lights. Then the second segment reads, "and His life brought light to everyone" which implies the light of eternal salvation. Got it?

So the heavenly lights you see were created by God's voice, namely Jesus. And it's the same Jesus that upholds and sustains the heavenly lights which the whole world or universe lives by or enjoys today. To that effect, Hebraic alphabet letters translated in English reads, "He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power" (Hebrews 1:3 ESV).

As for Christ being our spiritual light, Pauline epistolary expression numbered as 2nd Corinthians 4:6 reads, "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ" (NIV). Got it? The evidential base of spiritual light of salvation and knowledge of eternal glory is the face of Christ. And that's the eternal light, which can never expire.

As for the heavenly lights, a day is coming known as "the day of the Lord", when Christ will stop upholding or giving life to those lights, not because He has become exhausted or utterly tired but because time realm will expire (end of age). To that effect, Isaiah 13:9-10 reads, "See, the day of the Lord is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light" (NIV). Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Psalm 18:28; Matthew 4:16; John 9:5; Psalm 119:19.

Guided Prayer:

Heavenly Father, your word is true and it always comes to pass because your mouth has spoken it. There is light in every aspect of my life because Christ shines in me and through me - by His own inner witness, namely the Holy Spirit. Thank you Father for the light in me, and your Word that happens in my life as I speak into my life's moments and circumstances, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
