IF CHRIST IS IN YOU - PART 5
MONDAY 19 AUGUST 2024
"If Christ is in you" is a topic that denotes the process of acknowledging the presence of the Godhead in a born again Christian. In other words, Christ in you is the distinction of divine entities, such as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. This is because Jesus stated, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30 NIV). More below!

Reference: Romans 8:9-10 New International Version (NIV)
"You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness."
By gradually coming to the end of this topic, I believe that it is now absolutely obvious that if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. This verity has been proven throughout the successive process of this topic, to the glory of God.
How did God get us to belong to Christ? Romans 7:4-5 (LEB) says, "So then, my brothers, you also were brought to death with respect to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. For when we were in the flesh, sinful desires were working through the law in our members, to bear fruit for death." In this versified Scripture, mark the phrase, "the body of Christ."
In any given situation, Christ was innocent, yet He suffered through His body (or in the flesh). And it is of paramount importance to note that His body in the above Scripture represents the body of sin, because He personally carried all the sins of mankind in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. Got it? For this reason, the death of Christ was an atoning sacrifice far superior to the animal sacrifices of the old covenant law, because it was a perfect offering, with propitiatory or conciliatory purpose toward God, which actualised salvation in those who come to God through faith.
In another way, Christ's suffering and death demonstrated the judgement branch of God's justice - by showing that sin deserved severe penalty or punishment, though it would not be punished in the person of the sinner who has come to believe in Christ. So the sinner who now believes in that punishment that entails death and resurrection - will no longer belong to Satan, but to another, namely Christ; the One who was raised from the dead, in order that the sinner, now created as a saint, by virtue of repentance and salvation - may bear fruit for God. Are you with me?
Now what is the benefit of his or her salvation in Christ? If indeed, Christ is in the one who has believed, then even though their body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives them life because of righteousness. Why? Watch this: On any level of spiritual understanding, there is a connection between Christ's death and the human body. This is why our referenced Scripture specifically mentioned that "even though your body is subject to death because of sin..." Got it? Every human body is subject to death because of sin. Now what did Christ do for us? He became a human being, and wore that human body which was subject to death because of sin. To that effect, Johannine literature numbered as John 1:14 reads, "So the Word became human and made His home among us" (NLT).
What made the difference in Christ's body? The Spirit of God! His body was subjected to death, but the Spirit of God raised Him to life. This is the reason a "body" that does not have or possess the Spirit of God, does not belong to Christ. Got it? But if Christ is in a physical body, even though that "body" is subject to death - a deserved punishment for sin, the Spirit of God (or Christ) gives it life because of righteousness. Don't ever miss this revelatory point for any reason whatsoever.
Pauline epistolary expression now says, "For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin" (Romans 6:6 NIV). How was the body ruled by sin done away with? There was a "real life" deadly punishment of sin inflicted on Jesus' body, and it covered many-sided character of sinful nature that led to mankind's ungodly way of life.
So the power of sin was rendered powerless in Christ's own body, which was destroyed or done away it through His death on the cross, showing and demonstrating that the human body is indeed subject to death because of sin. Stay tuned for part 6. Shalom!
