PERFECT GIFTS VIA CONTINUATIONISM - PART 2

"But covet earnestly the best gifts:"

The source of spiritual gifts is considered supernatural, who is the Spirit of God. To that effect, 1st Corinthians 12:4 reads, "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them" (NIV). This is a repository of God's perfect gifts being revealed through the Holy Spirit. That means, perfect gifts originate from a source beyond the natural world, and are bestowed on the saints through divine encounters, and experienced through faith and laying on of hands.

What a blessed life it is for us, that God indeed has equipped us with life-giving "spiritual blessing" which is the blessing of the gifts of the Spirit. Their manifestations issue forth ultimate dominion on account of living the life of the Spirit, and the demonstrated powers of the gifts result in righteousness and good works, as we impact lives and transform men's character through them.

But who is this Holy Spirit? Holy Spirit is the Angel of God's presence (Isaiah 63:9 BSB). He manifests the presence of our heavenly Father, and as a Person, He dwells in us, guides us and communicates with us. According to the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit is "another Comforter", meaning that Jesus is the first. But the Holy Spirit has been sent to dwell in us and walk alongside us, as long as we live on earth. Therefore every born again Christian needs to continually experience the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit in their Christian lives, whether they are at home, functioning at work, present in a meeting, luxuriating in a Christian fiesta, or reposing in a cooling environment which is refreshing, or calming to the body.

More so, being aware that the precious Holy Spirit is the main reason we can live the Christian life effectively, helps us to identify with His attributes and spiritual gifts in an empowering manner. Below is a versified passage that points to His depiction of flow in our lives. They also define the beauty of His favour upon our lives, as we yield to Him and desire the best of Him.

"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He distributes them to each one, just as He determines" (1 Corinthians 12:7-11 NIV).

Beloved, I believe that the above versified passage is self explanatory. Moreover, earnestly coveting the best gifts implies that a born again Christian can be filled or endowed with such gifts-oriented acknowledgment, denoting overflowing abundance of God's grace in him or her.
