In order for the gift of tongues to be clearly expounded, we need the gift of interpretation of tongues which is also granted or distributed by the Holy Spirit.
To that effect, Pauline epistolary expression numbered as 1st Corinthians 12:4 reads, "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them" (NIV).
Through the gift of interpretation of tongues, the saints who make up the body of Christ draw heavily from the divine inspiration, thoughts and expressions stemming from the Angel of presence of the Lord, namely the precious Holy Spirit. More below!

Reference: 1st Corinthians 14:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
"For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious."
With reference to my starting point - based on this article, I mentioned that the saints make up the body of Christ, which equally implies that the church on earth, is known as the body of Christ, not the Spirit of Christ. Why? We were redeemed by His "flesh and blood" vessel. That's the reason we remember Him in this manner:
"He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." After supper he took another cup of wine and said, "This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you" (Mark 14:22-25 NLT).
Other versified passage concerning the body of Christ being offered for us and His blood which was poured out for us are numbered as Luke 22:18-20 and 1st Corinthians 11:23-25. But remarkably, the Lord Jesus said, "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever - the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you. 'I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, bereaved, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you'" (John 14:16-18 AMP).
The outpouring of the Spirit took precedence from the day of the Pentecost. Now the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, and who cannot be seen in bodily form like the Lord Jesus because He is the Spirit of God and of Christ, now fathers the body of Christ. The biblical account of Pentecost numbered in the book of Acts as Acts 2:1-3 (ESV), describes His arrival on earth as the sound like "a mighty rushing wind" and "dividing tongues as of fire" which appeared to rest on the disciples.
After being filled with the Holy Spirit, the believing disciples were endowed or gifted with the tremendous ability to speak in diverse tongues. This divinely inspired event was very much in line with the fulfilment of Joel's prophetic utterance which says,
" In the last days,' God says, "I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants - men and women alike - and they will prophesy" (Acts 2:17-18 NLT).
In accordance with the above versified passage, what are the major symbolic signs that follow after the outpouring of the Spirit and praying in unknown tongues? The ability to prophesy, to see visions, and to dream dreams. This also implies that the ability to comprehend the "gift of spoken tongues" can be supplied by the "gift of interpretation of tongues", by means of sweeping visions, dreams, trance, direct revelation from God; by words in the mind during sleep, and by special semantic knowledge - in a conscious union with the Spirit of truth, through which the secrets of God's heart is made known.
By any of these means, the gift of interpretation of tongues can be transmitted or displayed under varying circumstances, enabling one to fathom all mysteries and all knowledge embedded in the tongues, which is considered equivalent to a person understanding a message he has spoken in tongues or has previously spoken in an unknown language.
While speaking in tongues is considered in our versified reference as mysterious speech addressed to God, when it is interpreted into human language by those embued with the gift of interpretation of tongues, it is highly beneficial in yielding transformational outcomes. More so, it is also beneficial to the edification of the church, when such supernatural utterances are interpreted into the language of the gathered saints. Stay tuned for part 9. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 14:26; Romans 12:6-8; Ephesians 5:18-19; 1 Peter 4:10.
Guided Prayer:
Gracious Father in heaven, I acknowledge today and always that speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift that can be manifested as either a human language or a heavenly supernatural language inspired by the Spirit of truth, who guides me into all truth. As I speak under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, I receive heavenly visions, dreams, uncommon revelations, word of wisdom and word of knowledge as interpretations that bring clarity to my divine direction and supernatural experiences, which in turn, result in glorious outcomes and testimonies in my Christian walk, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
