FUNCTIONING AS A KING - PART 4
WEDNESDAY 09 AUGUST 2023
The blessings of God are a vital part of human salvation in Christ. It is always available to you and me and to all who have witnessed the new birth and thus, belong to the kingdom of light. Let's find out more about the next blessing the king rejoiced about!

Reference: Psalm 21:1 New Living Translation (NLT) "How the king rejoices in your strength, O LORD! He shouts with joy because you give him victory."
Today's versified statement is marvellous which is: Verse 4: He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—length of days, for ever and ever (Longevity).
David's prayer was to live life to the full and see his old age, and God responded to him with even more—a never-ending life. Think about it: Just one man! We have just concluded that God came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on His head, and here is another interesting blessing - Longevity. Indeed, when it comes to David, I'm highly convinced that all spiritual and material blessings were intended for him by God. King David was spiritually and physically rich because of God's favour. His faith in God lavished and furnished him with true blessings, which figuratively and similarly denote the blessings of salvation in Christ.
Even in Christ, we are more convinced of better blessings that have to do with salvation. Now the question is: What is longevity? It is long life. It is designed by God to be the blessed result of a godly lifestyle in Christ - especially for those mindful of it. Even in some families, you hear that there is no early death because such families are known for longevity. More so, in God's own family, we have access to long life. To that effect, David asked for long life.
David asked God for life, and He gave it to him—length of days, for ever and ever (Longevity). This was noted in 1st Chronicles 29:28, which says, "He died at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth and honor. His son Solomon succeeded him as king" (NIV).
The glory of long life is a supernatural effect and it transmits on divine strength. In Christ Jesus, this life is for those who are awakened to every due sense of eternal life at work in them. To that effect, Romans 8:11-13 says, "The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live" (NLT).
More so, faith in the absolute goodness of God can sustain the mind in deep and dark places of human fear. This is the reason the Psalmist says, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me" (Psalm 23:4 ESV). In other words, he demonstrated a strong faith in God, which was superior to his darkest valley encounters, presence of danger, or any outburst of terror, as well as any emergencies.
Beloved, if you belong to Christ Jesus, always remember that the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death, and has given you access to live the Zoe life on earth successfully. Stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
