DIVINE WISDOM AND SUPREME UNDERSTANDING  - PART 2

TUESDAY 01 APRIL 2025

Those who value and pursue divine wisdom, and the ideal of supreme understanding - go from strength to strength, as long as they are faithful in the use of what they have received from God. More below!

Reference: Proverbs 3:13-14 New Living Translation (NLT)

"Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.

For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold."

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom which means that it is the ever-sure foundation of supernatural wisdom.

To instantiate this verity, Psalm 111:10 reads, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise" (NIV). Beloved, the fear of the Lord is within the walls of our hearts, where Christ dwells, and its vessel expands by being filled with divine wisdom, and more so, it activates itself wider by nurturing godly desires and a demonstrated faith in God's Word (see Matthew 7:24 NIV).

God's intention towards us is not only that we should sustain a growing possession of His wisdom, but also we should gain a rich understanding by practising His precepts. Divine wisdom extends herself to reach out to the wise, the wiser and the wisest, and to clearly point out the decisions they make at any stage of their lives, as well as open their eyes to the instructions they must follow. Why so? In their decision making process, wisdom needs to remind them about God's ways - the one True and only God, so they can do what is right in His eyes, and experience the resulting benefits of wisdom.

To that effect, Proverbs 9:9-12 reads,

9-11

"Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life" (NIV).

11-12

"Lady wisdom says: For by me (wisdom from God) your days will be multiplied,

And years of life shall be increased. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself [for your own benefit]; If you scoff [thoughtlessly ridicule and disdain], you alone will pay the penalty" (NKJV).

Beloved, if you are wise, the wisdom you express is your own reward. Moreover, compared to wisdom, Lady Folly is unruly and silent, naive and ignorant, and she ridicules wisdom because of its infinitude (see Proverbs 24:7 NLT). Admittedly, if you mock what you don't understand, especially an excellent virtue, you alone will suffer the consequences. In other words, there are mockers and fools who reject God's teaching and consistently do what is wrong in spite of its consequences. Interestingly, wisdom patiently confronts them and instructs them to change their ways.

To that effect, Solomonic inspired utterance reads, "Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?" (Proverbs 1:20-22 ESV).

As for the wise, how do they grow in wisdom? They have the consciousness of continuous and progressive gift of wisdom. So they pay attention, using all their senses, and actively notice the voice of wisdom in the world around them. Hence, each measure of wisdom they receive, they apply or use it aright, making them capable of possessing more of it. And each level of understanding they utilise and manifest, makes them desirous of more understanding. Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!
