DAVIDIC PSALMODY BY ENCOMIUM - PART 1

Updated: Jul 24

WEDNESDAY 23 JULY 2025

Foundation Scripture: Berean Standard Bible.

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord" (Ephesians 5:19).

Introduction:

King David was noted for 35 Psalms of prayer and praise he wrote in Psalters, which could always offer edifying collection of psalmody. In his prayers, he expressed his heart to the Lord in an unrestrained way, as well as made speeches or written works that praise, honour and exalt God highly. And in the expository knowledge of this wonderful topic, we shall excel in gaining the in-depth theoretical moral content of a discussion that will capture our spiritual attention, and empower us to regularly observe its practical application as an uplifting strategy, to the glory of God.

Reference: Psalm 98:1-2 New Living Translation (NLT)

"Sing a new song to the Lord, for He has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; His holy arm has shown His saving power! The Lord has announced His victory and has revealed His righteousness to every nation!"

Did you ever sing a new song to the Lord, for His wonderful deeds, by singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs in your personal times which engender divine experience, and even among your fellow saints, making music to the Lord in your heart? And even sometimes, have you found yourself highly inspired to pen a "thanksgiving" aspect of your speech or a wonderful piece of writing that praises God highly, in your own wordings of spiritual understanding, which is valued as a positively impactful and rewarding encomium?

The agency by which the above sublime expressions is often accomplished is that of the Holy Spirit. To that effect, Pauline epistolary expression numbered as Ephesians 5:18-19 read:

"Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts" (NLT).

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is the truth that can adapt itself to a certain profitable end or resultant effect, such as singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, and making music in our hearts to the Lord. It is a spiritual action that is enabled to produce appropriate glorious influence on the soul, even in the absence of rains, dews, and sunlight, or in storm and wilderness, meaning that this sort of spiritual experience is not only conducive to Christian gatherings, public worship or church services; it is equally beneficial in personal "pastimes", "quiet times" or "alone time" with God, in any given situation or atmospheric condition.

To instantiate this phenomenal awareness, Isaiah 42:10 reads, "Sing to the LORD a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it. You islands, and those who dwell on them" (NASB 1995). Within this applicable versified statement, did you notice the mentioned locations, such as sea and island? In other words, a born again Christian can nurture an empirical evidence of being filled with the Spirit, which can purposefully lead to singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs - regardless of their locational status.

In all cases, therefore, the proper effects of "Davidic Psalmody by encomuim" is a gospel truth that can exert enriching, refreshing and renewed spiritual impact on the soul's energy, and it is to be traced to the great influence of the Holy Spirit in our Christian lives. Stay tuned for the successive parts of this topic. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Isaiah 12:5; Psalm 96:1; 1 Chronicles 16:23; Colossians 3:16.

Exuberant Declaration:

Day and night, my persistent prayers and praises travel heavenward like incense before God, sometimes through Psalters that acceptably magnify the God of signs and wonders, and empower me to profusely rejoice in His presence. Glory to God!
