CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Jesus said: I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. God the Father is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If you are in Christ, His glorious light is in you and that light is divine presence. So you are in union with true light which makes you more than a man. Therefore, you can only enjoy the glory of God's presence as you walk in His light.

Reference: Ephesians 5:8-10 New International Version (NIV)'

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.'

We are instructed by apostle Paul to walk in our new status - children of light. To walk as children of light, we must learn what it means to be 'light' in the Lord. Light is one of the characteristics of our Father’s kingdom. We belong to His Kingdom, having been translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son from the domain of darkness. The Bible says, "For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness, and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves" (Colossians 1:13).

The powerful sacrifice of Jesus afforded us the opportunity to live as light in the midst of the corrupting influences of the world. We belong to a kingdom that spans through the unending reach of eternity because God’s kingdom has no end. That means, your light will never cease. Therefore, a relationship founded on pleasing the Lord and applying the principles of His kingdom is eternal and it manifests light.

Again in 1st Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NIV), Paul reminded us that we are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. In these verses, Paul's emphasis is on living "awake" and being alert to please the Lord. Our light is demonstrated by application of the Word. So this means that we must keep acting on the Word to transmit “Light” which is used to describe the righteousness and truth of God (Ephesians 5:8-10 NIV), as compared to the wickedness of the devil and His dark kingdom. Night denotes spiritual darkness, unbelief and ignorance; day denotes light.

Jesus is the light of the world, and those who have received Him as Saviour and Lord, are children of light. They do not live in the “darkness” of the world, because the light in them is greater than the darkness in the world. We walk in paths of righteousness and truth and the Holy Spirit leads us in that path of right living as we yield to His guidance. Praise God!

Guided Prayer:

Dear Father, I thank you for your divine presence in me, which manifests light in my world. I'm a son of the day and a child of light. Therefore, I walk in the light and I live above all the limitations of the human realm. I'm completely shielded from Satan and his domain of darkness, having been raised together with Christ through His vicarious death. By this revelation I shine forth as the light of my world, thereby walking in victory, favour, divine health and prosperity everyday of my life, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
