2021: YEAR OF MASTERY AND ARTISTRY


Foundation Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:25 (KJV) "And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible"


References: 1 John 4:4; John 16:33; Romans 8:37; Luke 10:19; 2 Timothy 2:15; Ephesians 2:10; 1 Samuel 16:16.


This year, we are experiencing new level of: Proficiency, ability, capability, knowledge, understanding, comprehension, familiarity, command, skilfulness, control, superiority, expertise, dexterity, excellence, intelligence, finesse, adroitness, prowess, horse sense, deftness, and know-how.


Brief introduction to Mastery and Artistry:


*MASTERY Mastery is control or superiority over someone or something. For instance, the new creation's mastery over nature, the adversary, and the world. These are recorded in Scriptures like:


1 John 4:4 (NLT) "But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world."


John 16:33 (NASB)

"These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, But take courage; I have overcome the world." Therefore, take charge and be of good cheer because "Christ in you" has overcome the world. You are superior to the world!


Romans 8:37 (KJV) "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."

Luke 10:19 (NIV)

"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you."


We are also going to experience mastery in the things of the Spirit, which means advanced, comprehensive knowledge or skills in divine subjects and realities, which will in turn propel us to prosper spiritually, materially, financially in 2021 and beyond...(Habakkuk 2:14 NIV): For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.'

*ARTISTRY


On the other hand, Artistry refers to creative skill or ability. In this year, by the Spirit, God is going to take us to new level of creativity, productivity, and excellence in our Kingdom walk, in our areas of assignment and in our careers.


We are going to function with new level of wisdom, ability, speed, efficiency, discernment, wit, understanding and mental acumen that we've never seen, witnessed, displayed or experienced before. All of these will be evident in our assignments, career and Kingdom commitment.


The Spirit of God will train us to be skilful in handling His Word in all wisdom and understanding, as we yield to Him. According to 2 Timothy 2:15 (NASB) "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth."


God has deposited in us, creative ability for every good work. According to Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."


David was a skilful player on the harp. He played with some mastery such that they had to seek for him to play for King Saul. By the help of God's Spirit, this will be our story in everything we do in 2021 (see 1 Samuel 16:16 NASB).


Finally, our foundation Scripture, 1 Corinthians 9:25 (KJV) reads, "And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible" That means, every person who plans to excel in all areas of life this year must exercise great control over themselves, in all things. Today's Golden News devotional will expatiate on this. Mastery and Artistry are displayed through dedication, self-control and self-denial, and they are for only those who want to be the best and the first in all their endeavours and commitments.


More so, as the saints, we are to gain the mastery in all things so we can receive incorruptible (imperishable) crown, which means that everything we do this year, should be done from eternal perspective, having in mind that we don't belong to this world. There are eternal crowns waiting for us as we run the Christian race in this world. They are crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8), crown of glory (1 Peter 5:4), crown of life (Revelation 2:10), crown of rejoicing (1 Thessalonians 2:19) and more. Therefore, strive for the mastery in all things, especially in the things of God and in soul winning. Then do it with the right mindset - to obtain an incorruptible crown in heaven.
