YOUR PEACE WITH GOD

SATURDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2021

To be at peace with God is to receive Christ as Lord because God has called us to Himself through Christ and so He wants us to stand firm on what Christ has accomplished for us through the cross by putting our faith in Him.

Reference: Romans 5:1-2 New Century Version (NCV) "Since we have been made right with God by our faith, we have peace with God. This happened through our Lord Jesus Christ."

The Scripture pictures us being moved from the realm of enmity to being at peace with God, as a result of being made right with God by faith in Christ. We must therefore maintain that having been justified by faith, we are feeling at home with God. So Paul's communication here focuses on informing us that we are at peace with God. One of the very lies of the enemy is to whisper into your ear that you are less than qualified or inadequate in God's sight. In fact he wants you to doubt your salvation and to feel anything less than being at peace with God and thus, he schemes to make you feel that you're far away from God.

However beyond any doubt, you must always remain comfortable in the place or situation of peace that you are in with God, as a born again Christian. This also means that you must fight the devil's whispers of inadequacy by standing firm in faith. I tell you, if this Scripture is all you know, that's all you need to live a victorious life in Christ. God's love and acceptance are enough for you and you are complete and perfect in Christ. Since you have been made right with God by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, absolutely, you have peace with God. When a Christian entertains self doubt about being at peace with God, the problem is their mindset. Romans 8:6 (NASB) says, "For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace." This means, their mind is set on the flesh and so the enemy takes advantage of it. In fact, any feeling of inadequacy or unworthiness before God is a sign that the enemy is messing with your mindset.

The Bible says, "...no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes "(2 Corinthians 2:11 NASB). We must recognize that we have an enemy and so, we must not be ignorant of his schemes. When you understand his schemes, he can never take advantage of you. You have a permanent peace with God because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, and that is what the devil is really after. He tries to attack your peace with God: By trying to keep you unstable in your relationship with God, sometimes through distraction and discouragement; by trying to plant discord in your fellowship or communion with others in the body of Christ; and by trying to weaken your commitment to fulfilling God's purpose.

What must you do to live above the enemy's lies and schemes? Be spiritually minded and alert. Romans 8:6 (NKJV) reads, "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." When you are spiritually minded, the result is consistent peace with God. Even if the enemy tries to plant a seed of doubt in your mind, it will not prosper or take root in you because you are spiritually minded. Being spiritually minded can be easily mastered by always agreeing with God through meditation on His Word, through speaking in tongues often, by engaging in prayer and fasting regularly and by investing in constant communication with the Holy Spirit. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Psalm 4:8; Isaiah 32:17; Romans 14:17; Isaiah 53:5.

Exuberant Declaration: I'm made right with God through Christ Jesus, and I have my mind and thoughts governed solely by the Holy Spirit. I have a fixed inward knowledge that I'm at peace with God. My stable faith in Christ proves to be the evidence of this peace and the Spirit of God bears witnesses with my spirit that the bond of oneness I have with God is an unending reality. Hallelujah!
