UPHOLD THE JOY OF SERVING GOD
As a child of God, the joy you experience in serving God can be upheld and sustained in your life always. By 'upholding this joy' I mean, maintaining the custom or practice of serving God with joyful outlook and exuberance. Your response to the things of God and the value you attach to serving God speak volumes about the way you regard God.
Reference: Psalm 122:1 Amplified Bible (AMP) 'I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord."'
Are you a child of God? Then the House of God is your house. That equally means: You are to show great delight in the things of the spirit, in such a way that the joy it radiates in you, is able to arouse the same interest in others. Every Christian should feel thrilled and enraptured for getting involved in the things of God, whether they are in the house of God or anywhere else.
It is only rebellious children that stay away from enjoying the company of their Father. They feel uncomfortable when dad is around. And that's exactly what happened to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3:8 (NIV) says, 'Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.'
No matter what you do in life, whether you are a student or a professional; whatever career you are involved in, never get to the point where you're too busy to remember God exists. Don't be too cultured or civilised that you put God aside. Some Christians think God will understand them for not being so in touch because of the busy nature of their workload, position or status in the society, or relevance in the market place. Honestly, God can never approve any excuse that takes you away from Him.
In our referenced scripture, the word, 'glad', is the Hebrew Word, 'Sâmach' and it means to be joyful, cheerful, and to be pleased. The writer tells us that he was glad and merry; he greatly rejoiced upon receiving the call to be in the house of God. If you are a Christian, you must train yourself to be excited with the things of God by first of all, creating time for God.
One of the benefits of having a quality time with God, is that you will begin to have significant encounters with God and they will register well on the tablet of your spirit. Then, the things of God will start making blissful meaning to you, such that you'll easily look forward to reading and meditating on the Word, thereby developing an increased yearning desire for God. You'll start doing the work of God with passion, become extremely stirred to share the Word with others and indulge in many rewarding spiritual activities.
Third, you'll see yourself doing and acting on the Word of God frequently, taking it upon yourself to advance God's righteous cause in every possible way. You'll go beyond having a position in the house of God. For instance, you'll find it passionate to participate in giving to support the things of God. You will not see it as a burden, rather as one of the principles of living a successful life in the Kingdom. You'll suddenly become a part of God's kingdom builders.
Never be sluggish in the things of God. The Family of God is your family and every Christian should naturally display the inspiriting beauty to do something great for God in this noble family. So, never lack in zeal but keep the fire burning in you steady. Romans 12:11 (NIV) says, 'Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.'
How can you uphold the joy of serving God? By spending quality time in prayer; studying and meditating on the Word of God. Also by gathering with fellow Christians, sharing the Word of truth with them, maintaining consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit and giving to the things of God.

Exuberant Declaration: I dwell in Christ with the sense of joyful exuberance and my heart is aglow with spiritual realities. I am sharp-witted and insightful with the Scriptures; always moving in tune with the things of God. I am passionately kindled with divine assignments and I highly regard and esteem serving God. I promptly obey the voice of the Holy Spirit leading me to the desires of the Father for a fulfilled life and glorious encounters. Glory to God!
