THE WISDOM OF GOD IN A MYSTERY
THURSDAY 22 JULY 2021
A mystery is something that is difficult to understand except by revelation. Hence, the wisdom of God coded in a mystery means that it can't be understood or accessed by the ordinary mind because its not available in the realm of intellect and logic. It is strictly revealed to those in Christ, the select few who let the word of Christ dwell in richly in them and practise it (see Colossians 3:16).
Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:7 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory."
We can only speak the wisdom of God in a mystery by revelation. This is why it is called the hidden wisdom of God, unlike human wisdom which is familiar to many and limited in perspective. The issue for us in Christ is to truly see and grasp this hidden wisdom. If you can't see or perceive it, you can't speak and function by it. That means, first, we need to gain God's perspective because it is God's own wisdom and its a superior one. The standpoint of God's wisdom is the higher way that positions us to live the higher life and function from the higher plane of life.
Spending time in the Word and activating the presence of God help us to gain God's perspective. That means, we must have a heart and love for fellowship with God, now that we are saved. Apart from gaining God's perspective, there are two key terms that are consistent with the hidden wisdom of God in our referenced Scripture and we need to understand them. One is that this wisdom was predestined before the foundation of this world. The other is that it is specifically and mainly designed for our ultimate glory, not necessarily for God's glory. In other words, the focus of glory is different this time: Our glory is the necessary result.
First question: Why is this wisdom predestined? Predestined wisdom is God's original plan and choice to share His love, level of understanding, and attributes with us prior to our existence. By sharing in God's wisdom, we speak like Him, walk in His glory and are paraded on earth as reflecting His image and light like a mirror, to all of creation. So this wisdom is a force that influences the way we are, the way we reason and the way we respond to life, which means that it entails our thoughts, mindset, words, choices, and actions. It is a force predestined to work in us and through us in order for us to display His virtues and perfections and execute His plan and purpose on the earth.
Second question: Why is it for our own glory? Its simply because it will make us wise and different from the rest of the world and also bring out in us, the best of everything God has in mind for us to be. For instance James 3:17 (NIV) says, "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." In other words, the foundation is heavenly and so it comes from God to work out our own glory here on earth. This is why this wisdom does not go pari passu with what is popular or trendy in the world, and so it does not fulfil selfish or worldly desires, rather its a wisdom that refines us and focuses our mind on the glory God has called us to share with Him.
How do we learn, possess and speak this hidden wisdom? By meditating on God's Word and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit every single day. For instance, when you study God's Word, you must apply what it says in your own life. And here are few Biblical thoughts that show us the way we can practise and function in divine wisdom: Isaiah 33:24 (AMP), 'And no inhabitant [of Zion] will say, "I am sick."' Applying this and speaking forth divine realities associated with health ensure your good health and steady well being. Another one is Job 22:29 (NIV): "When people are brought low and you say, 'Lift them up!' then he will save the downcast". The act of "speaking forth" ensures upliftment and divine empowerment. In other words, your words - in line with the Scriptures - matter because the dictates are established.
Psalm 91:9 (NIV) says, 'If you say, "The Lord is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.' Notice the phrase "If you say". That means, the mystery of divine execution is in the "saying" of what God says. Therefore, we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages for our glory. Shalom!
Exuberant Declaration:
Wisdom from above is my lifelong blessing from God. This wisdom encourages, strengthens, guides, cautions, instructs, prepares, and supports me in every aspect of life. Hence, studying and meditating on the Scriptures enable me to widen my spiritual understanding and function with God's perspective in life. By speaking forth the wisdom of God, I'm conditioned to walk in abundance, victory, health and good success, which is God's ultimate plan and desire for me. Hallelujah!
