THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN - PART 2

TUESDAY 10 DECEMBER 2024

In today's article, the focus is directly majored on the first man who found a hidden treasure in a field, and then, since he was thrilled, hid it again, and then sold everything he had, came back and bought the whole field, with the hidden treasure part of the bargain. More below!

Reference: Matthew 13:44-46 New International Version (NIV)

'The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."'

Although the sharing of both persons' treasurable experiences based on their found precious treasure - is slightly different from each other, we are to acknowledge that the spiritual interests of both persons in our referenced Scriptures are remarkable, which in all senses, should be our own interest.

The first man found a treasure hidden in a field, which was kept secret, meaning that he unearthed it, after discovering it. The hidden treasure wasn't obtained through search, unlike the jewel merchant on the hunt for exquisite pearls. Then he hid it again, which denotes the directional symbolism of guarding something in God's immediate presence even after God has disclosed it to you.

Moreover the first man represents the Gentiles. The Voice Translation addressed Him as a thrilled crafty man. It literally reads, "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure that is hidden in a field. A crafty man found the treasure buried there and buried it again so no one would know where it was..." (Matthew 13:44 VOICE). Got it?

To that effect, Matthew 8:11 reads, "And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven" (NKJV). In other words, the chosen Gentiles who are not in any way searching for the treasure, which is the Kingdom of heaven, will find themselves in the Kingdom, because Jesus Christ brought peace through the Kingdom of heaven, thereby breaking down the middle wall or barrier of the partition of hostility.

This also implies breaking down ethnic implications and cultural barriers that make up our differences. So it is evident that the Gentiles share in the same promised blessings to the Patriarchs - Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, emphasizing the fulfilment of God's covenant through Christ. To that effect, the New Living Translation of Pauline epistolary expression numbered as Galatians 3:14 reads, "Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing He promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith."

In Galatian epistle, we can aver that there is no assignable difference in treasures of the Kingdom. It is the sameness of treasures that the Jews and the Gentiles share in the Kingdom of heaven. As for the second man, known as a jewel merchant, the character of his pursuit was enduring. Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Matthew 6:33; Daniel 7:18; Galatians 3:26-29; Matthew 13:31-32.

Exuberant Declaration:

I confess that I have secured this treasure for myself in my earthen vessel, with a vast contemplative insight and grounded conclusion that the all-surpassing excellency of power is from God and not from me. Hallelujah!
