THE GREATNESS OF GOD

MONDAY 07 MARCH 2022

Jesus healed a demon-possessed boy who was regularly thrown into convulsions such that he foamed at his mouth. As the boy was coming to meet Jesus, the demon threw him to the ground, but Jesus rebuked the impure spirit with His superior authority and the boy instantly got healed and was sent back to the father joyfully. Then all the people who witnessed the miracle kept marveling at the greatness of God because of all Jesus did.

Reference: Luke 9:43 New International Version (NIV) "And they were all amazed at the greatness of God."

It is to your advantage as a Christian to always recognise the greatness of God, desire to often experience it in your life, sustain the awareness by cultivating a readiness to be captivated by it any time you experience it, and avoid being too familiar with it or treating it as ordinary and negligible.

Let me remind you of the greatness of God: He is the same God that said, "Let there be light, and light emerged instantly" (Genesis 1:3 NIV). With the same lips, He spoke the whole world into existence. Simply put, God built this universe with the description of His utterances and suspended the planet earth in the space without any pillar. In Psalm 89:5-7, the Scriptures reveal this about the greatness of God: "The heavens praise your wonders, Lord, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; He is more awesome than all who surround him" (NIV). What an acknowledgment of the greatness of God!

Beloved, it is one thing to acknowledge the greatness of God through the revealed truths in the Scriptures, and its another thing to experience it in reality. If the latter is not yet attained in your life, then you only have the head knowledge of His greatness, not a serious conviction. And you can never fully express your firm belief in God through your actions, if you only have a head knowledge. Moreover, for those who have encountered God's greatness in diverse ways, no matter how often they've partaken in such divine experiences, the greatest Christian minds still get caught up in the glory of such greatness because God's amazing deeds are absolutely astonishing.

Therefore, whenever you receive a miracle from God, do not let it come between you and the Doer's recognition, rather let the joy derived from it spur you on to be amazed at His greatness. Being totally dumbfounded and enraptured in worshiping God when you experience His goodness will always point you to the revelation that "God is too great" because no matter the miracle you receive, it can never be big enough compared to the giver (God). Gracefully, whenever you stand amazed at what God has done for you, you are identifying with His greatness and acknowledging that there is more and there's a higher, better, bigger and greater miracle in God yet to come.

Even if you have not received your desired miracle, always be glad and rejoice with those who testify of His greatness because the grace of God always flows in the lives of those who celebrate His goodness and you will surely receive your own testimony in due time, as you join others to celebrate. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - 1 Chronicles 16:25; Jeremiah 10:6; Psalm 47:2; 1 Chronicles 29:11.

Guided Prayer: Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory and the majesty. Indeed your dominion is felt in everything that is in the heavens and the earth and you're highly exalted as head over all. Because of the surpassing greatness of your might and the strength of your power, your wonders abound in my life such that I experience the miraculous in every aspect of my life. Hence, my heart is stirred by your noble deeds and I'm forever grateful in Jesus' Name, Amen!
