Profitable proficiency is a function of divine wisdom and empowerment, and it attracts a great reward. More below!

Reference: 1st Samuel 16:18 New King James Version (NKJV)
"Then one of the servants answered and said, "Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the LORD is with him."
The second segment for today's focus is:
"who is skillful in playing"
This is a David who possessed a dominant idea in playing a harp, coupled with a high degree of skill or superlative expertise. When it comes to His "fitness" description for active service in the king's palace, it was synonymous with adroitness and prowess, especially in relation to his idiosyncratic modus operandi. His uniquely-enabled ability, dexterity, competence, capability and efficiency in performing harp playing techniques, such as playing chords, plucking with the fingers and thumbs, damping, as well as utilizing extended techniques like harmonics and percussive effect - was very debonair.
This means that in his day, king Saul employed David's services that rivalled the world's best and excellent harp players - in complexity, superiority and stability. So the prevailing view of Davidic functionality within the palace appeared to be that of an active instinctive "harp and lyre playing" which produced "sound-evoked" comforting transmitter that engendered rhythmic therapy, periodic change and calming effects in King Saul. To that effect, the Bible reads, "Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him" (1st Samuel 16:23 NIV).
Beloved, the significance of King Saul's decision to recruit and induct a youthful David as one of his armor-bearers, is ascribed to God's influence in choosing David, and by creating a needful system that waranted the instrumentality of such a skillful harpist in the King's service, God Himself orchestrated the things that happened to align with His divine plan and purpose from ages long past.
As for proficiency by Christology, Pauline epistolary expression numbered as 2nd Corinthians 3:5 reads, "Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God" (NIV). This implies that even when think we are skillfully deserving, capable, fit or qualified to do anything on our own, our qualification can only come from God. Stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
