When King Nebuchadnezzar had dreams in the second year of his reign, his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, astrologers and advisors saying, "I had dreams that have been disturbing my mind, and I need all of you to tell me what I dreamed, and I also want to know the interpretation." When they came in and stood before the king, "Then the astrologers answered the king, 'May the king live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it.'" More below!

"In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the [learned] magicians and enchanters (Magi) in his whole realm."
Like I mentioned in part 5 of this topic, that the King had discovered Daniel and his compatriots with true blessings of divine wisdom and understanding which was 10 times better than all the [learned] magicians and enchanters (Magi) in his whole realm, what did we expect to see from then onwards? That his kingly administration would continue to be run at the same level as before? Let's find out how things began to change in the royal palace.
King Nebuchadnezzar just had dreams, but he instantly became suspicious concerning the abilities of his Wise men and advisors, having formed a new mindset about their credibility, which in turn, made him to purposely create the task of "approaching and handling his undisclosed dream" to look more difficult and severe. Now his mind was made up and he demanded that the dream be revealed first by the astrologers before the interpretation would be divulged.
And here is the dialogue that followed:
The Wise Men said: Long live the King, reveal your dreams to your faithful servants and we shall interpret it for you.
The king replied to the Astrologers:Â My mind is made up and so, this is what I have firmly decided: If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble. But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honour. So tell me the dream and interpret it for me.
Beloved, did you notice the sudden change in the king's relationship with his wise men? Things were no longer the same, since Daniel stepped in. The atmosphere began to change and the next conversation revealed the tone of the King's voice concerning his recent composition towards his wise servants, so to speak.
Wise men replied again: Let the King inform us with the description of the dream, and we will disclose the interpretation.
The King replied his Wise Men: Its obvious to me that you are just buying time, hoping to figure out a way out of this, because you know I've made up my mind on what to do with you all, which is death, the only fate waiting to happen to all of you. So I'm watching to see some fancy stories you are going to make up in order to deviate from the condition of the request I have made, but let it be known to you that I won't change my mind, even if you conspire to lie about my request or try to talk me out of it, but surely, those fabrications won't work on me this time. So tell me the dreams, because if you can do that, then it means that I can be confident in accepting the interpretation as true.
The Bible says in Daniel 2:10-13,
"The Chaldeans answered the king and said, "There is not a man on earth who can tell the king this matter, for no king, lord or ruler has ever asked such a thing as this of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean. Furthermore, what the king demands is an unusual and difficult thing indeed! No one except the gods can reveal it to the king, and their dwelling is not with [mortal] flesh." Because of this the king was indignant and extremely furious and gave a command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. So the decree went out that the wise men were to be killed; and they looked for Daniel and his companions to put them to death" (AMP).
Beloved, their art of divination had suddenly failed them as well as the casting of their magic spells, and the presence of God's people would soon be felt because Supreme Deity was up to something. So, there was no incantation, magic, talisman, totem, fetish practice, charm or amulet that could save or deliver them from the hands of furious King Nebuchadnezzar or make him change his mind, bearing in mind that the tide had turned; it was no longer business as usual.
Above and beyond all other considerations, was there any personality in the palace who was willing to be receptive to the Spirit of the true living God, and capable of revealing and manifesting the King's request in accordance with his specified requirement? PREFERENCE! Stay tuned for part 7. Shalom!
Everyday, I grow in godly wisdom and understanding more and more, and I have the miraculous evidences that surround my existence through marvellous and heightened degree of transformation. Hallelujah!
