HOPE, GLORIOUS INHERITANCE AND GREAT POWER - PART 4

TUESDAY 24 AUGUST 2021

The greatness of the power of God is the boundless measure of the might of His strength, which is a version of His nature. Today we are going to discuss the advantage in a Christian's life.

Reference: Ephesians 1:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV) "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power."

The knowledge of this power is a supernatural enlightenment and a great advantage for every Christian because it works mightily in us and for us by continual or conscious awareness. Divine power in Greek concept means "Dunamis". It is a spiritual force, strength and ability at work in the lives of God's people. The word, dynamite and dynamic is also derived from the Greek word dunamis. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) reads, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." From this Scripture, we can understand that this is the power of Holy Spirit.

Our lives are transformed by this power, as we renew of our minds with God's Word. In other words, we can experience a lasting change and transformation through the power of God's Spirit (see Romans 12:1-2). The power does not only transform men's lives, it also sustains all things. Hebrews 1:3 (NIV) reveals that all things are sustained by His powerful word. That means, His Word emits great power.

There is a special Kingdom task that God has called every Christian to do, and it's laid out for us in the Bible. For instance, Mark 16:15 (NLT) reads, 'And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone."' This is the great commission and it points us to the power of the gospel unto salvation. When we talk about God's calling for our lives, this universal command is indeed a great place to start. So God has given us the task of reconciling people to Himself through the exceeding greatness of His power (see 2 Corinthians 5:18).

A Scripture that expresses the exceeding greatness of this power and its dominion over those who declare themselves God's enemies as well as our enemies - says, 'Say to God, "How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You."' There is such a thing as the counsel of the ungodly or evil plot of the wicked but such counsel or plot does not prosper, if you consciously walk in this power and its simply because it cannot withstand the divine power level. Hence, enemies submit themselves to God against their will because of the greatness of this power. And we often use the name of Jesus as our instrument of triumph because this very power is vested in His name. Philippians 2:10 says, "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

The Lord has also given us the dynamic ability to stand strong in faith and to share the same faith with others. This ability is the same as the greatness of His power. Paul referred to this level of power in 2 Corinthians 4:7 as the all-surpassing power. He said, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us" (NIV). This very power is from God and its displayed and demonstrated in and through the people of God to bring Him glory. Shalom!
